  2. 2. Making sense of spatial, sensor and temporal information for context modeling

    Author : Jose Antonio Monteagudo; Ramón David Jiménez; Dr. Marcelo Milrad; Mathias Hedenborg; Växjö universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mobile devices; temporal information; context; content; ubiquitous computing; sensor data; mobile web server; Information processing; Informationsbehandling; Computer science; Datavetenskap;

    Abstract : Context represents any information regarding the situation of entities, being these a person, place or object that is considered relevant to the interaction between a user and an application. The results obtained permits an user to save context information attached to a picture in a database, as well as retrieve pictures from that database and show it in a web interface with its context information associated. 3. 3. Development of a new service-oriented modelling method for information systems analysis and design

    Author : Prima Gustiené; Anders G Nilsson; Sten Carlsson; William Wei Song; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Information systems analysis and design; conceptual modeling; service orientation; semantic integrity; static and dynamic aspects; goal modeling.; Informatics; Informatik; Information Systems; Informatik;

    Abstract : This thesis presents a new modelling method for information systems analysis and design, where the concept of service and the principles of service orientation are used for integrated modelling and reasoning about information systems architectures across organisational and technical systems boundaries. The concept of service enables cohesion of the intersubjective and objective modelling traditions by using a single type of diagram that facilitates detection of semantic inconsistency, incompleteness, ambiguity and discontinuity between the static and dynamic aspects of information systems specifications. 4. 4. Predictive Techniques and Methods for Decision Support in Situations with Poor Data Quality

    Author : Rikard König; Högskolan i Skövde; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Rule Extraction; Genetic Programming; Uncertainty estimation; Machine Learning; Artificial Neural Networks; Data Mining; Information Fusion; Information technology; Informationsteknik; Teknik; Technology;

    Abstract : Today, decision support systems based on predictive modeling are becoming more common, since organizations often collect more data than decision makers can handle manually. Predictive models are used to find potentially valuable patterns in the data, or to predict the outcome of some event. READ MORE

  5. 5. Textual information retrieval : An approach based on language modeling and neural networks

    Author : Apostolos A. Georgakis; Haibo Li; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Informatics; computer and systems science; Language modeling; Informatik; data- och systemvetenskap; Informatics; computer and systems science; Informatik; data- och systemvetenskap;

    Abstract : This thesis covers topics relevant to information organization and retrieval. The main objective of the work is to provide algorithms that can elevate the recall-precision performance of retrieval tasks in a wide range of applications ranging from document organization and retrieval to web-document pre-fetching and finally clustering of documents based on novel encoding techniques.
