  1. 1. ST-elevation myocardial infarction : studies of outcome in relation to fibrinolysis and ischemia monitoring with on-line vectorcardiography

    Author : Johan Nilsson; Ulf Näslund; Kurt Boman; Kristian Thygesen; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : Medicine; Myocardial infarction; vectorcardiography; fibrinolysis; reperfusion; Medicin; kardiologi; Cardiology;

    Abstract : The treatment of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) has undergone a tremendous development during the last decades, and the most important factor is probably the introduction of reperfusion therapy aimed at preventing or limiting the myocardial injury. It is of vital importance that patients with AMI are adequately monitored regarding the development of ECG changes during and after treatment to identify successful or failed reperfusion and to detect episodes of recurrent ischemia. 2. 2. Recovery from an Acute Myocardial Infarction : A Longitudinal Study of Couples

    Author : Monica Eriksson; Marianne Svedlund; Kenneth Asplund; Britt-Marie Ternestedt; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; acute myocardial infarction; adaptation; adjustment; balance; couples; family; normalisation; stability; system theory; transition; Caring sciences; Vårdvetenskap;

    Abstract : The overall aim of this thesis was to investigate recovery in the relationshipbetween couples following an acute myocardial infarction [AMI]. An additionalaim was to compare differences over time regarding hope and health‐relatedquality of life [HRQoL] for both patient and partner. READ MORE

  3. 3. On Bundle Branch Block and Acute Myocardial Infarction

    Author : Gunnar Thor Gunnarsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Acute myocardial infarction; left bundle branch block; right bundle branch block; diagnosis; prognosis; continuous vectorcardiography;

    Abstract : Studies from the pre-thrombolytic era showed that patients with bundle branch block suffering acute myocardial infarction had worse prognosis compared to patients without bundle branch block. It seems that this difference still exists in the thrombolytic era, at least for short-term mortality. READ MORE

  4. 4. On the dynamic ST-segment during acute myocardial infarction

    Author : Per Johanson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; acute myocardial infarction; ST-monitoring; prognosis; angiography;

    Abstract : Acute myocardial infarction is the single most common cause of death for both men and women in Sweden. Great efforts have over the years successfully been made to improve immediate treatment and care, and thereby prognosis. However, inadequacies in use of new knowledge and technology have been reported in this field. READ MORE

  5. 5. Myocardial metabolism in experimental infarction and heart failure

    Author : Truls Råmunddal; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : Myocardial metabolism; Heart failure; Myocardial infarction; Lipotoxic heart disease; Apolipoprotein B; Arrhythmias; Cardiac reserve; Creatine metabolism;

    Abstract : Abstract The heart is an organ heavily dependent on exogenous lipids for the oxidative production of adenosine-triphosphate (ATP) and therefore maintenance of normal cellular energy homeostasis. However, high energy flux organs such as the heart must closely match lipid import and utilization or otherwise lipids will accumulate in the cardiomyocytes. READ MORE
