  1. 1. Dendritic cells in cancer immunotherapy

    Author : Karin Gustafsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : vaccines; dendritic cells; αDC1; PGE2DC; natural killer cells; T cells;

    Abstract : Dendritic cells (DCs) play a central role in the initiation and regulation of innate and adaptive immune responses and have increasingly been applied as vaccines for cancer patients. Ex vivo generation and antigen loading of monocyte-derived DCs allows a controlled maturation, with the aim of imprinting different DC functions that are essential for their subsequent induction of a T cell-mediated anti-tumor response. 2. 2. Modelling effects of climate change and forestry on weathering rates and base cation cycling in forest soils

    Author : Veronika Kronnäs; BECC: Biodiversity and Ecosystem services in a Changing Climate; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; weathering; forest; biogeochemistry; Dynamic Modelling; ForSAFE;

    Abstract : Base cations are important in forest soils as nutrients for vegetation and protection against soil acidification. Today, base cations have been lost from soils through acidification and forest harvesting. With low levels in soils, temporary situations of deficiency could occur. READ MORE

  3. 3. Biomolecules at Interfaces -Studied by Surface and Solution Techniques

    Author : Anna Bergstrand; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LDL; sepsis; PEG; LPS; lipopolysaccharide; QCM-D; SPR;

    Abstract : The interfacial behaviour of biomolecules in general and proteins in particular is interesting from a biochemical point of view since proteins are involved in processes such as complement activation, blood coagulation and atherosclerotic plaque formation, but also in the context of biomedical applications such as solid-phase diagnostics, therapeutic aphaeresis and biosensors. The objective of this thesis is to study biomolecular interactions using surface sensitive biosensor techniques such as surface plasmon resonance, SPR, in combination with bulk techniques. READ MORE

  4. 4. Wind Turbine Characterization by Voltage Source Converter Based Test Equipment

    Author : Nicolas Espinoza; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Grid Integration; Frequency Scan; Discrete Control; Wind Power; Grid Emulation; Voltage Source Converter VSC ; Grid Code; Low Voltage Ride Through LVRT ;

    Abstract : In countries where wind power has become a relevant part of the total generated electrical power, transmission system operators (TSOs) have included in their Grid Codes specific technical requirements for interconnection of wind power plants. Some Grid Codes demand specific testing procedures in order to verify the fulfilment for their requirements. READ MORE

  5. 5. Control of Structure of Filled Polymer Blends

    Author : Claes Hammer; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; interactions; modelling; polypropylene; structure control; dynamic mechanical properties; filled polymer blends;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the control and analysis of the structure of filled immiscible polypropylene (PP) blends. The intention has also been to implement the knowledge gained in respect of commercially interesting systems as filled PP/(ethylene propylene copolymer (EP)) blends. READ MORE
