  2. 2. On optimization of natural convection flows

    Author : Clio Saglietti; Dan S. Henningson; Kurt Maute; KTH; []
    Keywords : Natural convection cooling; topology optimization; flow optimization; heat sink; conjugate heat transfer; differentially heated cavity; optimal initial disturbances; adjoint optimization;

    Abstract : Two different techniques are presented for enhancing the thermal  performance of natural convection cooled heat sinks. The physics is  described by solving the conjugate heat transfer problem with a  spectral element method. The temperature distribution is computed in  two sub-domains, whose solution is then conjugated. READ MORE

  3. 3. Galanin and NPY in the rodent brain: rapid effects of 17beta-estradiol and possible roles in hippocampal plasticity

    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Sex-hormones; Brain; Neuropeptides; Neurochemistry; Neurokemi;

    Abstract : The neuropeptides galanin and neuropeptide Y (NPY) play an important role in the reproduction of rodents, e.g. by modulating the release of gonadal hormones, the nutritional status by effects on feeding behavior and also by influencing mating behavior. READ MORE

  4. 4. Risk factors for cervical cancer development

    Author : Anthony S Gunnell; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Cervical cancer remains one of the leading causes of cancer mortality globally, predominantly in less developed countries. It is widely accepted that certain oncogenic types of HPV (Human papillomavirus) are necessary causes of cervical cancer development and a number of co-factors (including smoking) have also been implicated.
