11. Multi-View Reconstruction and Camera Recovery using a Real or Virtual Reference Plane
Abstract : Reconstructing a 3-dimensional scene from a set of2-dimensional images is a fundamental problem in computervision. A system capable of performing this task can be used inmany applications in robotics, architecture, archaeology, biometrics, human computer interaction and the movie andentertainment industry. 12. A Multi Sensor System for a Human Activities Space : Aspects of Planning and Quality Measurement
Abstract : In our aging society, the design and implementation of a high-performance autonomous distributed vision information system for autonomous physical services become ever more important. In line with this development, the proposed Intelligent Vision Agent System, IVAS, is able to automatically detect and identify a target for a specific task by surveying a human activities space. 13. Promoting the Clinical Relevance of 3D Bioprinting
Abstract : This thesis focuses on the development of methodologies enabling the reconstruction of autologous, functional, and long-term-stable cartilage-like tissue using 3D bioprinting technology and animal experiments. The stability, resilience, and in vivo viability of the printed cells and tissue vascularization, as well as the observed immunogenicity and safety, represent the main issues evaluated and discussed in this thesis. 14. 3D nano-tomography using coherent X-rays
Abstract : X-rays allow to non-destructively investigate biological, chemical or physical processes at the nano-scale. Their high penetration depth in matter allows to investigate samples even inside sample environments, which would be difficult with complementary methods such as transmission electron microscopy (TEM). 15. A 3D Digital Approach to the Stylistic and Typo-Technological Study of Small Figurines from Ayia Irini, Cyprus
Abstract : The thesis aims to develop a 3D digital approach to the stylistic and typo-technological study of coroplastic, focusing on small figurines. The case study to test the method is a sample of terracotta statuettes from an assemblage of approximately 2000 statues and figurines found at the beginning of the 20th century in a rural open-air sanctuary at Ayia Irini (Cyprus) by the archaeologists of the Swedish Cyprus Expedition.
