1. Planar segmentation for Geometric Reverse Engineering using data from a laser profile scanner mounted on an industrial robot
Abstract : Laser scanners in combination with devices for accurate orientation like Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) are often used in Geometric Reverse Engineering (GRE) to measure point data. The industrial robot as a device for orientation has relatively low accuracy but the advantage of being numerically controlled, fast, flexible, rather cheap and compatible with industrial environments. 2. On electronics for measurement systems
Abstract : This thesis collects the work performed by the author on electronics for measurement systems. The first part is the work performed on the EISCAT 3D ionospheric research radar, including two papers on the investigations on required performance, electronics design, and proof of concept signal processing. 3. Computer Vision for Traffic Surveillance Systems : Methods and Applications
Abstract : Computer vision solutions play a significant role in intelligent transportation systems (ITS) by improving traffic flow, safety and management. In addition, they feature prominently in autonomous vehicles and their future development. The main advantages of vision-based systems are their flexibility, coverage and accessibility. READ MORE

4. Gaining Depth : Time-of-Flight Sensor Fusion for Three-Dimensional Video Content Creation
Abstract : The successful revival of three-dimensional (3D) cinema has generated a great deal of interest in 3D video. However, contemporary eyewear-assisted displaying technologies are not well suited for the less restricted scenarios outside movie theaters. READ MORE

5. Characterization of Small Antennas & Wireless Devices for MIMO Systems in Multipath & Line-of-Sight
Abstract : The current thesis investigates over-the-air (OTA) performance characterization of small antennas and wireless terminals in rich isotropic multipath (RIMP) environment, as well as in pure line-of-sight (LOS) environment when taking into account the random positions and orientations of the mobile terminals caused by the realistic user behavior. The latest mobile wireless terminals such as smart phones and tablets can be used in any random orientation thereby making even a received LOS-component appear as a random voltage at the antenna ports over time.
