  1. 1. Modelling of Delamination Growth in Composite Structures

    Author : Niklas E. Jansson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; large deformation; interface; composite materials; 3D-shell; cohesive zone; regularization; shell element; delamination;

    Abstract : Delaminations constitute an important damage and failure mode in polymeric composite laminates. In order to explicitly incorporate and model the delamination progression within a finite element analysis, the meso-modelling concept is applied in the present work. The laminate is thereby represented by separate layers connected with interfaces. READ MORE

  2. 2. Design and characterization of nanoparticles and their assemblies : Transmission electron microscopy investigations from atomic to mesoscopic length scales

    Author : Arnaud Mayence; Lennart Bergström; Liberato Manna; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; nanoparticles; electron microscopy; Materials Chemistry; materialkemi;

    Abstract : Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) is a powerful and versatile tool for investigating nanomaterials. In this thesis, various transmission electron microscopy techniques are used to study the chemical and structural features of different types of inorganic nanoparticles of well-defined morphologies as well as their assemblies. 3. 3. Organic Electrochemical Transistors : Materials and Challenges

    Author : Silan Zhang; Simone Fabiano; Magnus Berggren; Jenny Nelson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The use of organic mixed ionic-electronic conductors (OMIECs) has demonstrated the potential to transform the field of bioelectronics, spanning from medical diagnostics to neuromorphic computing hardware. To keep up with the fast-paced demands, it is crucial to develop customizable device fabrication, design new materials, improve operation stability, and explore the ion-electron interactions within OMIECs. 4. 4. A numerical study of mixing phenomena and reaction front propagation in partially premixed combustion engines

    Author : Christian Ibron; Strömningsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; CFD simulation; förbränning; antändning;

    Abstract : This work treats the modelling of PPC engine combustion through 3D computational fluid dynamics. In order to develop a cost-effective CFD model for the design and performance analysis of PPC engines it is important to first understand the multiple modes of combustion in PPC engines, e.g. READ MORE

  5. 5. Magnetotransport and Persistent Currents in Ballistic Microstructures

    Author : Thomas Swahn; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : In this Thesis we discuss properties of different ballistic microstructures in the presence of a magnetic field. Three topics have been studied: (i) the magnetoconductance of a three-dimensional (3D) microwire, (ii) magnetotransport and persistent currents in a two-dimensional so called "quantum dot" in a gated AlGaAs heterostructure, and (iii) some magnetotransport properties of a quasi one-dimensional conducting channel in the same kind of material.
