2. Citrus Waste Biorefinery: Process Development, Simulation and Economic Analysis
Abstract : The production of ethanol and other sustainable products including methane, limonene and pectin from citrus wastes (CWs) was studied in the present thesis. In the first part of the work, the CWs were hydrolyzed using enzymes – pectinase, cellulase and β-glucosidase – and the hydrolyzate was fermented using encapsulated yeasts in the presence of the inhibitor compound ‘limonene’. 3. Biological Pretreatment and Dry Digestion Processes for Biogas Production
Abstract : Biogas technology has been used quite extensively to generate renewable energy from organic wastes while also recycling nutrients in the wastes and reducing harmful emissions. However, the challenges of low biogas yield from recalcitrant and inhibitory solid wastes together with high construction and operation costs of bioreactors have impeded optimal performance through this process. 4. Separation of solid wastes for recycling and utilization
Abstract : With depletion of the earth´s natural resources and growth in solid wastes, increasing emphasis must be placed on recycling. Recycling and utilization of solid wastes has become an active subject. The present thesis was focused on this area. READ MORE

5. Recycling and durability of PVC materials focusing on pre- and post-consumer wastes from building products
Abstract : The potential for recycling various polymeric materials contained within buildings constructed in the late 1960s and 1970s in Sweden was investigated during the course of this work. Three residential blocks were studied to establish the quantity of materials available for recycling, to investigate the difficulty in and time needed for the dismantling of the buildings, the degree of purity of the materials, and the possibility of separating the materials.
