  1. 1. A study of the fatigue behaviour of laser and hybrid laser welds

    Author : Md. Minhaj Alam; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Manufacturing Systems Engineering; Produktionsutveckling;

    Abstract : This licentiate thesis focuses on the fatigue cracking behaviour of laser and hybrid laser-MAG welded structures. Beside the welding process and the resulting weld, several topics related to fatigue of welded structures are treated such as; macro and micro surface geometry, weld defects and their influence on fatigue performance of welded structures, fatigue analysis by the nominal and effective notch stress method, fatigue life prediction using LEFM (Linear Elastic Fracture Mechanics), fatigue testing, metallurgical analysis, elastic and elastic-plastic finite element analysis. 2. 2. Pluripotent Dynamic Capabilities in the Internationalization of Firms : Focus on Learning, Innovating and Networking in SMEs from Sweden

    Author : Mohammad Reza Saeedi; Hossein Dadfar; Staffan Brege; Desirée Holm; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Internationalization of SMEs; Firm-specific advantages; Dynamic capabilities; Absorptive capacity; Networking capability; Innovative capability; and PLS-SEM;

    Abstract : Internationalization of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) has been a considerable concern for international business (IB) scholars. Particularly, for those economies such as Sweden with small local markets, internationalization of SMEs could be fundamental. READ MORE

  3. 3. Wnts in development : focus on midbrain

    Author : Emma Rakel Andersson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Studies in the field of embryonic development reveal the temporal and spatial requirement of specific genes/proteins in the formation of a given tissue. The specific knowledge of which genes/proteins regulate development of the ventral midbrain (VM) provides a guideline for the in vitro differentiation of specific cell types therein, such as dopaminergic (DA) neurons. 4. 4. Towards safe and efficient application of deep neural networks in resource-constrained real-time embedded systems

    Author : Siyu Luan; Zonghua Gu; Leonid B. Freidovich; Lei Feng; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Machine Learning Deep Learning; Real-Time Embedded systems; Out-of-Distribution Detection; Distribution Shifts; Deep Reinforcement Learning; Model Compression; Policy Distillation.;

    Abstract : We consider real-time safety-critical systems that feature closed-loop interactions between the embedded computing system and the physical environment with a sense-compute-actuate feedback loop. Deep Learning (DL) with Deep Neural Networks (DNNs) has achieved success in many application domains, but there are still significant challenges in its application in real-time safety-critical systems that require high levels of safety certification under significant hardware resource constraints. 5. 5. Additive Manufacturing of Ti-6Al-4V: Relationship between Microstructure, Defects and Mechanical Properties

    Author : Pia Åkerfeldt; Barbara Shollock; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materialteknik; Engineering Materials;

    Abstract : Additive manufacturing (AM) is a relatively new technology that is labelled to be innovative, disruptive, near-net shaping, enabling manufacturing of complex and customised products, for limitless number of applications, directly from the CAD model into real physical parts. For titanium alloys in aerospace applications, AM moreover stands for a reduced material cost, but also for large challenges when considering consistency and qualification of material properties and components in serial production.
