  1. 1. A Novel Rearrangement of Allyl Benzyl Ethers and Aspects on the Glyoxylate Ene Reaction

    Author : Johan Wennerberg; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; liverwort; natural product synthesis; phenyl butyraldehydes; allyl benzyl ethers; 2-hydride migration; 1; 4-rearrangement; regio selectivity; shape selectivity; zeolite; Ene reaction; Taxol A-ring; naphthalene derivatives; dihydronaphthalenes; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis describes an improvement of the glyoxylate ene reaction by using siamyl glyoxaylate and a development of the novel rearrangement of allyl benzyl ethers. The glyoxylate ene reaction was used as a key reaction in a 8-step synthesis of a Taxol A-ring building block. READ MORE

  2. 2. Natural killer cells in cancer : studies on migration and cytotoxicity

    Author : Erik Wennerberg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The role of natural killer (NK) cells in cancer development has been studied extensively over the last four decades and the increasing knowledge on NK cell regulation has improved both safety and efficacy of treatment. Despite these recent advances the clinical success has to date been modest in treatment of solid tumors, owing both to suboptimal directed migration of NK cells and the tumor cell’s resistance to NK cell-mediated lysis. 3. 3. Functional studies of integrin subunit 1 and its cytoplasmic domain

    Author : Krister Wennerberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; integrin; integrin subunit β1; integrin signaling; extracellular matrix; fibronectin polymerisation; focal adhesions; focaladhesion kinase; metastasis; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Medical Biochemistry; medicinsk biokemi;

    Abstract : Integrin subunit β1 can form functional heterodimeric receptors together with at least 11different a subunits. These integrins are the main cellular receptors for extracellular matrixproteins such as collagens, fibronectin, laminins, and others, and they are necessary fornormal embryonal development. 4. 4. Genetic Variation and Migration of Waders

    Author : Liv Wennerberg; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mtDNA sequencing; microsatellite analysis; Dunlin; Calidris alpina; Curlew Sandpiper; Calidris ferruginea; White-rumped Sandpiper; Calidris fuscicollis; carbon isotope ratios; Zoologi; Zoology; Ecology; bird migration; population genetics; Ekologi; Animal ecology; Djurekologi;

    Abstract : The migratory behaviour of birds has received much scientific interest, though many questions still remain unsolved. One of the reasons for this is the difficulty of following the birds as they move between breeding and wintering localities. Populations may mix on migration and the origin of individual birds is difficult to assess. READ MORE

  5. 5. Design and Stability of Cu(In,Ga)Se2-Based Solar Cell Modules

    Author : Johan Wennerberg; Michael Powalla; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electronics; Thin film solar cells; CIGS; Cu In; Ga Se2; stability; lifetime; testing; Elektronik; Electronics; Elektronik; Elektronik; Electronics;

    Abstract : Cu(In,Ga)Se2 (CIGS) is one of the most promising semiconductor compounds for large-scale production of efficient, low-cost thin film solar cells, and several research institutes have announced their plans for CIGS production lines. But for the CIGS technology to become a commercial success, a number of issues concerning manufacturability, product definition, and long-term stability require further attention. READ MORE
