1. Towards restoring intestinal health after pelvic radiotherapy - Lessons from dietary fiber intervention in a novel mouse model
Abstract : Patients who have cancer in the pelvic region are at risk of developing gastrointestinal symptoms for weeks, months, or even years after receiving radiotherapy. These symptoms are triggered due to unwanted radiation-induced damage to surrounding non-cancerous tissues, resulting in the disruption of normal physiological functions. READ MORE

2. Patients with worsening chronic heart failure ? Symptoms and aspects of care. A Descriptive and Interventional study
Abstract : The aims of this thesis are to (1) explore the factors related to seeking care (Paper I), (2) describe the association between fatigue and selected symptoms (Paper II), (3) validate a method to detect the symptoms (Paper III) and (4) evaluate home care with respect to health-related quality of life (HRQL), medical safety, and cost-effectiveness in patients with worsening chronic heart failure (CHF) (Paper IV). All studies utilise data on patients with worsened CHF who sought care at the emergency department or heart failure clinic. READ MORE

3. Nonlinear Creep Model of Paper and Corrugated Board Materials
Abstract : Models of the nonlinear creep behavior of paper, and of the global buckling , local buckling and creep buckling of corrugated board have been developed. The studies of creep and buckling were limited to climate conditions with constant relative humidity. First the short-term elastic buckling of corrugated board panels was studied. READ MORE

4. Towards Enabling Exploration of Planetary Subterranean Environments using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles
Abstract : This thesis presents a novel navigation framework established to enable the exploration of planetary subterranean areas with Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). The key contributions of this thesis work form a robot-safe rapid navigation framework that utilizes a novel bifurcating frontier-based exploration approach. READ MORE

5. Postural control and adaptation to threats to balance stability
Abstract : Postural control is the ability to maintain equilibrium and orientation in a gravitational environment. It is dependent on feedback and feedforward mechanisms that generate appropriate corrective movement based on body-sway motion detected primarily by visual, vestibular, and proprioceptive sensory systems.
