  1. 1. Gamma irradiation in multi-cycle ABS recycling- effects on ABS properties and the recovery of antimony

    Author : Sandra Tostar; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ABS; antimony; gamma irradiation; recycling; WEEE; plastics;

    Abstract : Electronic waste, also called waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), is the fastest growing waste stream in Europe today. The fast exchange pace of mobile phones, televisions and computers creates an important need to develop recycling areas to take care of, reuse and recycle these materials. READ MORE

  2. 2. Control of Systems with Limited Capacity

    Author : Stefan Solyom; Institutionen för reglerteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; voltage collapse; power systems; anti-windup; piecewise linear systems; synthesis; ABS; PID control; LMI; Automation; robotics; control engineering; Automatiska system; robotteknik; reglerteknik;

    Abstract : Virtually all real life systems are such that they present some kind of limitation on one or many of its variables, physical quantities. These systems are designated in this thesis as systems with limited capacity. This work is treating control related problems of a subclass of such systems, where the limitation is a critical factor. 3. 3. Synthesis of a Model-based Tire Slip Controller

    Author : Stefan Solyom; Institutionen för reglerteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; LMI; synthesis; hybrid; piecewise linear; ABS; PID;

    Abstract : The Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) is an important component of a complex steering system for the modern car. In the latest generation of brake-by-wire systems, the performance requirements on the ABS have changed. The controllers have to be able to maintain a specified tire slip for each wheel during braking. READ MORE

  4. 4. Towards a Safe System Approach to Prevent Health Loss among Motorcyclists

    Author : Matteo Rizzi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Stability; ABS; Safe System; Motorcycle; Powered Two Wheelers; Antilock Brakes;

    Abstract : Health loss among motorcyclists is a global road safety problem for which innovative countermeasures are needed. While the traditional motorcycle safety approach has focused on protective gear and rider education, the Safe System approach adopted in Sweden and other countries implies that the road, the vehicle and the road user, in conjunction with a safe speed limit, should interact to create a safe road transport system. 5. 5. Improving emergency braking performance of heavy vehicles

    Author : Leon Henderson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; heavy vehicles; pneumatic brake actuator; ABS; pneumatic braking system; Slip control braking; HGV; vehicle testing; tyre dynamics;

    Abstract : Previous studies by the Cambridge Vehicle Dynamics Consortium (CVDC) have suggested that, by improving the control bandwidth of conventional Heavy Goods Vehicle(HGV) brake actuators and using a ‘slip control’ braking strategy, HGV stopping distances could be reduced by up to 30% over existing systems. The work covered in this thesis looks to: validate the CVDC’s previous braking performance predictions through Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) simulation, investigate how in-plane tyre dynamics may influence such a system’s performance, develop and build a next generation high-bandwidth braking system for vehicle implementation and carry out comparative back-to-back vehicle tests between the new system and commercially available HGV ABS.
