  1. 1. Antimicrobial peptides in the treatment of infectious and inflammatory conditions : Preclinical studies of mechanism of action, efficacy, and safety

    Author : Camilla Björn; RISE; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; antimicrobial peptides; AMPs; innate immunity; infection; inflammation; mechanism of action; efficacy; safety; antimicrobial resistance; antibiotic resistance; Antimicrobial peptides; AMPs; innate immunity; infection; inflammation; mechanism of action; efficacy; safety; antimicrobial resistance; antibiotic resistance;

    Abstract : The rapid emergence of antibiotic-resistant microbes worldwide and the urgent need of new antimicrobial agents have stimulated interest in antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) as new therapeutics for treatment of infectious diseases. AMPs are present in all living species and constitute an important part of the innate immune system in multicellular organisms, including humans. READ MORE

  2. 2. Occupational performance in school settings : evaluation and intervention using the school AMPS

    Author : Michaela Munkholm; Anne G. Fisher; Britta Löfgren; Curt Hagquist; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Occupational therapy; Assessment; Rasch measurement; Children; schoolwork performance; Differential item functioning; Differential test funktioning; Outcomes; Efficacy of intervention; school-based practice; instrument development; Occupational therapy; Arbetsterapi; Occupational therapy; arbetsterapi;

    Abstract : Background: This thesis is was designed to evaluate aspects of reliability and validity of the School Version of the Assessment of Motor and Process Skills (School AMPS) (Fisher, Bryze, Hume, & Griswold, 2007), an observation-based evaluation of quality of occupational performance when children perform schoolwork tasks in school settings. The long term goal was to contribute to knowledge about children at risk or with mild disabilities who experience difficulties with occupational performance in school settings, and describe how the School AMPS can be used when a true top−down process of planning and implementing school-based occupational therapy services is implemented in a Swedish context. 3. 3. Occupation-based and occupation-focused evaluation and intervention with children : a validation study of the assessment of motor and process skills (AMPS)

    Author : Brigitte Elisabeth Gantschnig; Ingeborg Nilsson; Anne G Fisher; Julie Page; Wendy Costa; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Activities of daily living; occupational performance; evaluation; Rasch analysis; mild disabilities; attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder; developmental coordination disorder; learning disorder; sensory integrative disorder; occupational therapy; feasibility; implementation; translational research; Occupational therapy; arbetsterapi;

    Abstract : IntroductionOccupational therapists are concerned with enabling people to perform the daily life tasks they need, want, or are expected to perform for fullest possible integration into community living and participation in society. Children with mild disabilities have problems performing personal and instrumental activities of daily living (ADL) tasks at home or school, and that can limit their full integration and participation in their homes and school lives. 4. 4. To get things done, the challenge in everyday life for children with spina bifida. Quality of performance, autonomy and participation

    Author : Marie Peny-Dahlstrand; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : spina bifida; myelomeningocele; lipo-myelomenigocele; performance skills; autonomy; participation; Assessment of Motor and Process Skills AMPS ; School Function Assessment SFA ;

    Abstract : The overall aim of this thesis was to increase knowledge of the quality of performance of everyday activities, autonomy and participation in children with spina bifida (SB) and to explore how they relate to each other. Methods: In Study I, the quality of performance of everyday activities in 50 children with SB (of the 65 in a population-based cohort) aged 6 to14 years was assessed with the Assessment of Motor and Process Skills (AMPS). 5. 5. Expression and regulation of antimicrobial peptides in mucosal immunity

    Author : Andreas Cederlund; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Antimicrobial polypeptides (AMPs) are effector molecules of the innate immune defense. AMPs are mainly expressed in epithelial cells and immune cells, providing the first line of defense to infection as direct antimicrobials. In addition, many AMPs display immunomodulatory functions in both the adaptive and innate immune system. READ MORE
