  1. 1. Acoustic Forces in Cytometry and Biomedical Applications: Multidimensional Acoustophoresis

    Author : Carl Grenvall; Avdelningen för Biomedicinsk teknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Acoustophoresis; Microfluidics; Ultrasound; Multinode; Cell Sorting; Particle Positioning; Cytometry; Lab-on-a-Chip; µTAS; Binary Separation; Acoustic Barriers; Acoustic Particle Manipulation; Acoustic Standing Waves; Blood Separation; Milk Analysis;

    Abstract : Over the last decades the ongoing work in the fields of Lab-on-a-Chip and Micro-Total-Analysis-Systems has led to the discovery of new or improved ways to handle and analyse small volumes of biofluids and complex biosuspensions. The benefits of working on the microscale include: miniaturization of the analysis systems with less need for large sample volumes; temporal and spatial control of suspended particle/cell positions; low volume sheath flow lamination or mixing; novel separation techniques by using forces inherent to the microscale domain; precise regulation of sample temperatures and rapid analysis with less volumes needed to be processed. 2. 2. Room Acoustic Ray-Tracing : Understanding, evaluating and expanding the toolset

    Author : Hanna Autio; Byggnadsmekanik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Room acoustics; acoustic ray tracing; Room acoustic simulation; virtual reality; acoustic scattering;

    Abstract : Room acoustic simulations are an important tool, both for design of spaces with satisfactory acoustics and for use in virtual reality experiences. Auralization of acoustic simulations are becoming more and more important in the context of Virtual and Augmented reality (VR and AR respectively), as the technology is used more and more in healthcare, culture and research. 3. 3. Remote Acoustic Characterization of Thin Sheets

    Author : Etienne Mfoumou; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Remote acoustic excitation; material characterization; acoustic NDT; vibration-based technique; sheet material evaluation; fracture toughness.;

    Abstract : There is a need to monitor the existence and effects of damage in structural materials. Aircraft components provide a much publicized example, but the need exists in a variety of other structures, such as layered materials used in food packaging industries. READ MORE

  4. 4. Acoustic separation of submicron particles in gaseous flows

    Author : Ramin Imani Jajarmi; Laszlo Fuchs; Etienne Robert; Klas Engvall; Martin Wiklund; KTH; []
    Keywords : Acoustic; submicron particles; gaseous flows; separation; Engineering Mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Abstract : The separation of submicron particles suspended in gaseous flows is a problem of great importance and is the subject of sustained research efforts. This is motivated by several challenges presented by modern science and technology requiring high separation efficiencies for submicron particles. 5. 5. Structure-Acoustic Analysis; Methods, implementations and applications

    Author : Per-Anders Wernberg; Byggnadsmekanik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; vibration and acoustic engineering; vacuum technology; hydraulics; numerical; Mechanical engineering; finite element ; Structure-Acoustic ; vakuumteknik; vibrationer; akustik; Maskinteknik; hydraulik;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates structure-acoustic problems, which involve a flexible structure coupled to an enclosed acoustic fluid. In the literature, this type of problem is usually referred to as vibroacoustic problems or structure-acoustic problems with fluid interaction. The thesis consists of two parts. READ MORE
