  1. 1. Open Quantum Systems : Effects in Interferometry, Quantum Computation, and Adiabatic Evolution

    Author : Johan Åberg; Erik Sjöqvist; Sten Lunell; Vlatko Vedral; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; Open Systems; Completely Positive Maps; Channels; Decoherence; Quantum Information; Quantum Computing; Adiabatic Approximation; Quantum Search; Time-Complexity; Fysik; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : The effects of open system evolution on single particle interferometry, quantum computation, and the adiabatic approximation are investigated.Single particle interferometry: Three concepts concerning completely positive maps (CPMs) and trace preserving CPMs (channels), named subspace preserving (SP) CPMs, subspace local channels, and gluing of CPMs, are introduced. 2. 2. Four-Body Treatment of the Hydrogen-Antihydrogen System

    Author : Henrik Stegeby; Piotr Froelich; Alejandro Saenz; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Antimatter; antihydrogen; four-body system; Adiabatic approximation; Born-Oppenheimer; elastic scattering; stabilization method; resonance states; coupled arrangement channels; coupled rearrangement channels; Gaussian Expansion Method; Antimateria; antiväte; fyrkroppars system; adiabatisk approximation; stabilisationsmetoden; resonanstillstånd; spridningstillstånd; kopplade arrangemangskanaler; Quantum Chemistry; Kvantkemi;

    Abstract : This thesis presents a nonadiabatic (4-body) description of the hydrogen-antihydrogen system at a nonrelativistic level. The properties of the system, the rearrangement processes and the possible existence of resonance states are investigated by using a variational method for coupled arrangement channels, the Gaussian Expansion Method, and the stabilization method. 3. 3. Vintage models of spatial structural change

    Author : Lars Westin; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; adiabatic approximation; dynamics; input-output; interregional computable general equilibrium; slaving principle; spatial models; spatial linear expenditure system; spatial price equilibrium; transportation networks; vintage function;

    Abstract : In the study a class of multisector network models, suitable for simulation of the interaction between production, demand, trade, and infrastructure, is presented. A characteristic feature of the class is a vintage model of the production system. READ MORE

  4. 4. A theoretical perspective on photoinduced reactions - based on quantum chemical models and non-adiabatic molecular dynamics

    Author : Sambit Das; Michael Odelius; Mårten Ahlquist; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Non-adiabatic dynamics; Molecular dynamics; Surface hopping; TDDFT; X-ray absorption spectroscopy; kemisk fysik; Chemical Physics;

    Abstract : The broad range of applications for photochemical reactions is the result of light-matter interaction at the electronic level. The diverse application of photochemistry in various fields, including photovoltaic materials, molecular switches, and biological systems are due to electronic and structural transformations induced by photoexcitation as well as molecular alteration due to electron and charge transfer. 5. 5. Power Reactor Noise Studies and Applications

    Author : Vasiliy Arzhanov; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; power spectra; control rod vibrations; Green s function; nesting hypothesis; adjoint function; fluctuating boundary; noise diagnostics; Accelerator Driven System; localisation algorithm; point reactor and adiabatic approximation;

    Abstract : The present thesis deals with the neutron noise arising in power reactor systems. Generally, it can be divided into two major parts: first, neutron noise diagnostics, or more specifically, novel methods and algorithms to monitor nuclear industrial reactors; and second, contributions to neutron noise theory as applied to power reactor systems.
