  1. 1. Chemically Modified Metal Oxide Nanostructures Electrodes for Sensing and Energy Conversion

    Author : Sami Elhag; Omer Nour; Magnus Willander; Alberta Bonanni; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Metal oxide nanostructures; mixed metal oxide nano-compound; low temperature wet-chemical growth; chemically modified electrode; doping; surfactant; potentiometric sensor; chemical sensor and photo-electrochemical activity;

    Abstract : The goal of this thesis is the development of scalable, low cost synthesis of metal oxide nanostructures based electrodes and to correlate the chemical modifications with their energy conversion performance. Methods in energy conversion in this thesis have focused on two aspects; a potentiometric chemical sensor was used to determine the analytical concentration of some components of the analyte solution such as dopamine, glucose and glutamate molecules. 2. 2. Regulation of Intracellular Calcium in Brown Adipocytes

    Author : Shi-Jin Zhang; Lawrence C.H Wang; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; zoofysiologi; Zoological physiology;

    Abstract : Intracellular Ca2+ is considered a primary regulator of cell function. In the present study, the control and the effects of intracellular Ca2+ in brown adipocytes have been investigated. Cytosolic Ca2+ levels ([Ca2+]i) are the resultant of the activity of Ca2+ transport systems. READ MORE

  3. 3. Availability and Salels of Alcohol : Experiences from Canada and the U.S

    Author : Björn Trolldal; Thor Nortsröm; Norman Giesbrecht; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Sociology; Sociologi;

    Abstract : This thesis consists of four papers, all of which focus on the effects of changes in the availability of alcoholic beverages on alcohol sales. The second paper also examines the effects of changes in the availability of alcohol on the incidence of fatal traffic crashes. READ MORE

  4. 4. Evolution and biodiversity of the Ixoroideae (Rubiaceae)

    Author : Kent Kainulainen; Birgitta Bremer; Sylvain Razafimandimbison; Torsten Eriksson; Sandra Knapp; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Alberteae; character evolution; classification; Condamineeae; fruit evolution; Ixoroideae; phylogenetics; pollen presentation; Rubiaceae; systematics; taxonomy; Systematics and phylogenetics; Systematik och fylogeni; växtsystematik; Plant Systematics;

    Abstract : The phylogenetic relationships within subfamily Ixoroideae of the coffee family are investigated by phylogenetic reconstruction of molecular data, including regions of the chloroplast DNA (matK, ndhF, rbcL, rps16, trnH-psbA, trnS-G, and trnT-F), and the nuclear ribosomal DNA (ITS). The evolution of morphological characters within the group are inferred, with focus on characters used in classification. READ MORE

  5. 5. Early Detection and Treatment for Children : Experiences and outcome of implementation at a pediatric hospital

    Author : Ann-Charlotte Almblad; Mats Målqvist; Gunn Engvall; Inger Hallström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; PEWS; Pediatric; Clinical deterioration; inter-professionell; teamwork; ACT; PARiHS; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Abstract : Early recognition of severely ill children is necessary to prevent serious adverse events and unexpected death. To promote patient safety the Early Detection and Treatment Program for Children (EDT-C) was developed at a University Children’s Hospital in Sweden. READ MORE
