  1. 1. Fluorescence microscopy studies of interactions between monomeric α-Synuclein and lipid membranes

    Author : Alexandra Andersson; NanoLund: Centre for Nanoscience; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Total internal reflection fluorescence microscopy; single vesicle imaging; single molecule imaging; protein-lipid interactions; α-Synuclein;

    Abstract : α-Synuclein (α-Syn), is an intrinsically disordered protein present in the substantia nigra part of the brain. α-Syn is commonly known to associate with lipid membranes containing anionic lipids. READ MORE

  2. 2. Hemicelluloses from Agricultural and Forestry Crops Isolation, Characterisation, and Enzymatic Hydrolysis

    Author : Alexandra Andersson; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Proteiner; enzymologi; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi; enzymology; hydrogels; Plant biochemistry; Växtbiokemi; Proteins; a-galactosidase; b-mannanase; hemicellulase; corn fibre; barley husks; spruce; size-exclusion chromatography; arabinoxylan; microwave irradiation; steam pretreatment; membrane filtration; hemicellulose; galactoglucomannan;

    Abstract : Hemicelluloses are tremendous sources of renewable raw materials, which utilisation have the potential to be highly increased in the future. Hemicelluloses are among the major groups of compounds in plant cell walls, together with cellulose and lignin. These three components are closely associated, making them difficult to separate from each other. READ MORE

  3. 3. Influence of kynurenic acid on dopamine neurotransmission : implications for schizophrenia

    Author : Alexandra Andersson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Kynurenic acid (KYNA) belongs to the kynurenines, a group of metabolically related compounds derived from the amino acid tryptophan. It is an antagonist of glutamate- and α7 nicotinic acetylcholine (α7nACh) receptors. Increased levels of KYNA have been observed in the cerebrospinal fluid and postmortem brains of patients with schizophrenia. READ MORE

  4. 4. Microvascular effects of insulin in the skin

    Author : Alexandra Högstedt; Simon Farnebo; Bijar Ghafouri; Erik Tesselaar; Folke Sjöberg; Sven Andersson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The microcirculation in the skin is essential for skin homeostasis. In instances of altered microvascular function, that may be the result of insulin resistance, tissue morbidity may ensue. The underlying mechanisms are however complex and not fully understood. READ MORE

  5. 5. Justice and Politics : On the Depoliticization of Justice Claims in the Work of Truth Commissions

    Author : Alexandra Lebedeva; Helen Andersson; Elena Namli; Jaana Hallamaa; Uppsala universitet; []
