  1. 11. Teacher to learner and back again : a narrative inquiry into teacher voice in professional learning

    Author : Lena Glaés-Coutts; Shelley Stagg Peterson; Canada University of Toronto; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; authentic; experienced teachers; knowledge; narrative; Ontario; professional learning; Education; Pedagogik;

    Abstract : My research investigates how four experienced Ontario elementary teachers use their personal and professional knowledge to define what they consider to be personal, purposeful and relevant professional learning, or authentic professional learning (Mockler, 2013; Webster-Wright, 2009). Authentic learning is here understood to represent what the teachers themselves described as their lived experiences of ongoing professional learning, and what they identified as relevant and purposeful for their continued professional, as well as personal learning. 2. 12. Data-driven Implementations for Enhanced Healthcare Internet-of-Things Systems

    Author : Amleset Kelati; Hannu Tenhunen; Juha Plosila; Nerey Mvungi; Ethiopia Nigussie; Bengt Oelmann; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; IoT; Real_time; Smart meter; Biosignal; NIALM; Data-driven; Machine Learning; FPGA; Informations- och kommunikationsteknik; Information and Communication Technology;

    Abstract : Healthcare monitoring systems based on the Internet of Things (IoT) areemerging as a potential solution for reducing healthcare costs by impacting and improving the quality of health care delivery. The rising numberof elderly and chronic patient population in the world and the associatedhealthcare costs urges the application of IoT technology to improve andsupport the health care services. 3. 13. On the Metric-based Approach to Supervised Concept Learning

    Author : Niklas Lavesson; Sweden Karlskrona Blekinge Institute of Technology School of Engineering Department of Systems and Software Engineering; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; classifier evaluation; supervised learning; metric; criteria;

    Abstract : A classifier is a piece of software that is able to categorize objects for which the class is unknown. The task of automatically generating classifiers by generalizing from examples is an important problem in many practical applications. This problem is often referred to as supervised concept learning, and has been shown to be relevant in e.g. READ MORE

  4. 14. Perspectives on Probabilistic Graphical Models

    Author : Dong Liu; Ragnar Thobaben; Harri Lähdesmäki; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bayesian methods; graphical models; inference; learning; statistics; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Abstract : Probabilistic graphical models provide a natural framework for the representation of complex systems and offer straightforward abstraction for the interactions within the systems. Reasoning with help of probabilistic graphical models allows us to answer inference queries with uncertainty following the framework of probability theory. READ MORE

  5. 15. Offshore renewable energy systems : Quantification of extreme loads using computational methods

    Author : Eirini Katsidoniotaki; Malin Göteman; Alison Raby; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; offshore systems; wave energy; CFD; extreme events; machine learning; Bayesian experimental design; active learning; surrogate modeling;

    Abstract : This Ph.D. thesis investigates the dynamic response of offshore energy systems in extreme waves. The use of offshore energy technologies, such as wave energy systems and offshore wind turbines, is crucial for transitioning to clean energy and mitigating the effects of climate change. READ MORE
