  1. 1. Aerosols of Isocyanates, Amines and Anhydrides : Sampling and Analysis

    Author : Jakob Dahlin; Gunnar Skarping; Robert P. Streicher; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; isocyanate; amine; aminoisocyanate; organic acid anhydride; denuder; impactor; impinger; air sampling; LC-MS; LC-CLND; di-n-butylamine; DBA; thermal degradation; aerosol; particles; TDI; MDI; HDI; ICA; MIC; IPDI; exposure; occupational health; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis presents methods for air sampling and determination of isocyanates, amines, aminoisocyanates and anhydrides. These organic compounds are generated during thermal degradation of polymers such as polyurethane (PUR) or epoxy.Isocyanates, amines and anhydrides are airway irritants known to cause occupational asthma. 2. 2. Isocyanates and Amines – Sampling and Analytical Procedures

    Author : Åsa Marand; Gunnar Skarping; Marianne Dalene; Daniel Karlsson; Roy Rando; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Isocyanates; Amines; Polyurethane; Air sampling; Industrial hygiene; Mass spectrometry; Liquid chromatography; Chemiluminescence; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis covers sampling and analytical procedures for isocyanates (R-NCO) and amines (R-NH2), two kinds of chemicals frequently used in association with the polymeric material polyurethane (PUR). Exposure to isocyanates may result in respiratory disorders and dermal sensitisation, and they are one of the main causes of occupational asthma. READ MORE

  4. 4. Volatile organic compounds from microorganisms : identification and health effects

    Author : Anna-Sara Claeson; Anna-Lena Sunesson; Jan-Olof Levin; Steven Nordin; Bengt Järvholm; Charles Weschler; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : microorganisms; building materials; VOCs; MVOCs; amines; LC-MS MS; exposure; perceived air quality; Occupational and Environmental Medicine; arbets- och miljömedicin;

    Abstract : Damp building materials are subjected to degradation processes due to moisture and also microbial growth, with both of these giving rise to emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that may contribute to indoor air health problems. The overall aim of this thesis was to investigate emissions of reactive and non-reactive VOCs from damp building materials and from the microorganisms growing on them, and also to investigate the possible health impact of these compounds. 5. 5. Separation of Pharmaceuticals by Capillary Electrophoresis using Partial Filling and Multiple-injections

    Author : Henrik Lodén; Curt Pettersson; Torbjörn Arvidsson; Ahmad Amini; Morgan Stefansson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Capillary Coating; Chiral Separation; Enantiomers; Mass-spectrometric Detection; Method Validation; Multiple-injection Capillary Zone Electrophoresis; Non-aqueous Capillary Electrophoresis; Organic Solvents; Pharmaceutical Analysis; Quantitative Analysis;

    Abstract : Different multiple-injection methodologies and the partial filling technique (PFT) have been utilized for separation of pharmaceuticals by capillary elec-trophoresis. In multiple-injection capillary zone electrophoresis (MICZE), the samples and all standards, used for construction of the calibration curve, are analyzed within a single run. READ MORE
