  1. 21. Improved Techniques for Protein Analysis Focusing on Membrane Proteins and Hydrophobic Peptides

    Author : Theres Redeby; Åsa Emmer; Jonas ergquist; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Integral membrane proteins; Hydrophobic peptides; Sample handling; MALDI-TOF-MS; Structured sample support; CE; fraction collection; microchannel; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : In this thesis, the vital cell functions performed by integral membrane proteins (IMPs) are briefly discussed. Such proteins are under-represented in most protein studies due to the hydrophobic nature of IMPs, which seriously complicate their solubilization, sample handling, preparation, separation and analysis. 2. 22. New Concepts for Dielectrophoretic Separations and Dielectric Measurements of Bioparticles

    Author : Fredrik Aldaeus; Johan Roeraade; Peter Stilbs; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis presents two new concepts for separation of micro particles using dielectrophoresis, demonstrated by calculated examples, as well as a new method for obtaining dielectric data on living cells. The thesis is based on four papers. READ MORE

  3. 23. Enzyme Immunoassay in Combination with Liquid Chromatography for Sensitive and Selective Determination of Drugs in Biosamples

    Author : Ulf Lövgren; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Analytical chemistry; amplification; alkaline phosphatase; enzyme immunoassay; liquid chromatography; flow-injection; micellar; Analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : Two different sensitive microtitre-plate based enzyme immunoassays were developed and evaluated for determination of the model drug compound, budesonide, in blood plasma. In the first approach, high sensitivity was obtained by using amperometric detection in a flow injection system for determination of the enzyme product p-aminophenol. READ MORE

  4. 24. Study of retention mechanisms in Hydrophilic Interaction Chromatography by Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy

    Author : Adel Shamshir; Knut Irgum; Tobias Jonsson; Ngoc Phuoc Dinh; Torgny Fornstedt; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; HILIC; hydrophilic interaction chromatography; adsorption; STD-NMR; saturation transfer difference; retention mechanism; NMRD; solid state-NMR; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with investigations of the retention mechanisms in hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography (HILIC) using nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. The aims are to understand how the different types of stationary phases can influence the retention of various solutes and the adsorption abilities of solvent on stationary phases. READ MORE

  5. 25. Affinity biosensors based on a capacitive transducer

    Author : Christine Berggren; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; self-assembled monolayers; capacitance; heavy metal ion; non-labeled; nucleic acid; DNA biosensor; Biosensor; immunosensor; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : Capacitive biosensors were developed for several analytes such as hormones, interleukines, viruses and heavy metal ions. The sensing surfaces were prepared by immobilizing the biorecognition element to self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) on gold. SAMs form spontaneously on gold by adsorption of thiols, sulfides or disulfides. READ MORE
