  1. 1. Static and Dynamic Load Response of the Lumbar Spine in Flexion

    Author : Anna-Lisa Osvalder; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; biomechanical response; flexion-distraction injuries; injury; ; experimental methods; spinal segments;

    Abstract : The aims of this study were to develop experimental methods for static and dynamic loading of spinal segments in vitro that would simulate flexion-distraction injuries (lap seat-belt injuries) and increase knowledge about the biomechanical response and the mechanisms of injury of the lumbar spine under static and dynamic (transient) loads in flexion. The experiments were carried out on the lumbar functional spinal unit (FSU) consisting of two adjacent vertebrae, the intervertebral disc and all intervening ligaments. READ MORE

  2. 2. Driving technology and development : Usability studies of gear shifters with variations in pattern, stability and design

    Author : Sanna Lohilahti Bladfält; Jessica Körning-Ljungberg; Camilla Grane; Lisa Öman Ekervhén; Anna-Lisa Osvalder; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Usability; Gear shifter; Monostable; Polystable; Shift-by-wire; Engineering Psychology; Teknisk psykologi;

    Abstract : Over the last few decades, the development of technology used in cars has moved forward at a very intensive pace. The focus has started to shift from the technology to the human as a user. READ MORE

  3. 3. System analysis of kitesurfing : Understanding performance and injury risk for on-water board sports

    Author : Lina Lundgren; Sofia Brorsson; Anna-Lisa Osvalder; Högskolan i Halmstad; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; sport performance; sport injury; musculoskeletal stress; system analysis; usability problems; human movement; Sports; Idrott; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Board sports are examples of sports where the interaction of the task, environment and the athlete are essential. As for other sports, there are injuries and other issues associated with these sports, which affect performance and that can be avoided by proper preparation and well- designed equipment. READ MORE

  4. 4. Ergonomics risk assessment methods for creating healthy work environments

    Author : Ida-Märta Rhén; Mikael Forsman; Teresia Nyman; Anna-Lisa Osvalder; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Ergonomics; Risk assessment; Reliability; Validity; Systematic Observation; Direct measurement; Simulation; Digital Human Modelling; Workplace Design; Work-related Musculoskeletal Disorders; Biomechanical Exposure; Teknik och hälsa; Technology and Health;

    Abstract : Risk assessments of ergonomic conditions in pre-production and in field are necessary to prevent work-related musculoskeletal disorders and to increase productivity and quality. Methods for such assessments include simulations, direct measurements and observations. READ MORE

  5. 5. Capturing semi-automated decision making : the methodology of CASADEMA

    Author : Maria Nilsson; Tom Ziemke; Joeri van Laere; Tarja Susi; Amy Loutfi; Ann Bisantz; Örebro universitet; []

    Abstract : This thesis presents a new methodology named CASADEMA (CApturing Semi-Automated DEcision MAking) which captures the interaction between humans and the technology they use to support their decision-making within the domain of Information Fusion. We are particularly interested in characterising the interaction between human decision makers and artefacts in semi-automated fusion processes. READ MORE
