  1. 16. Surface Properties of Antibodies and their Complexes with Antigens Studied by LLPC

    Author : Christer Wingren; Institutionen för immunteknologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ligand-binding.; surface properties; isomerism; conformational changes; antibody; specificity; two-phase partitioning; antigen-binding sites; Biochemistry; Metabolism; Biokemi; metabolism;

    Abstract : The main objective of this thesis was to gain further insight into the relationship between the exposed surfaces and the functional properties of antibodies and their complexes with antigens in solution. To study this relationship, a new technique, liquid-liquid partition chromatography (LLPC) in aqueous two-phase systems, was developed further with respect to sensitivity, selectivity and reproducibility. 2. 17. Asexual embryogenesis in plants

    Author : Boel Mårtensson; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Systematic botany; two-phase partitioning; somatic embryogenesis; pollen embryogenesis; plasma membrane; peroxidase; Daucus carota isoperoxidase; Nicotiana tabacum; Ca2 transport; cell shape; calmodulin; taxonomy; morphology; phytogeography; chemotaxonomy. Physiology of nonvascular plants; Systematisk botanik; taxonomi; morfologi; kemotaxonomi. Växters fysiologi inte kärlväxter .;

    Abstract : The capacity of somatic cells and pollen grains or microspores to undergo embryogenesis is an important property used in improvement and regeneration of plants. Furthermore, somatic embryogenesis as well as pollen embryogenesis show many similarities with zygotic embryogenesis and are, thus, good model systems. READ MORE

  3. 18. HYDROPHOBIC PEPTIDE TAGS - As tools in bioseparation and investigation of recombinant proteins

    Author : Sara Fexby; Tillämpad biokemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; E. coli; Biochemical technology; Biokemisk teknik; fusion protein; tyrosine; hydrophobicity; Hydrophobic interaction chromatography; aqueous two-phase system;

    Abstract : This thesis describes the possibility of using hydrophobic peptide tags as tools for bioseparation and for the investigation of recombinant proteins. The hydrophobicity of a protein can easily be changed by minor modifications, such as fusions of tyrosine-containing peptides. READ MORE

  4. 19. Anaerobic Digestion – Microbial Ecology, Improved Operational Design and Process Monitoring

    Author : Marika Murto; Bioteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; monitoring; UASB; Biotechnology; Bioteknik; methanogens; fluorescence in situ hybridisation; FISH; co-digestion; biogas; biofilm; aqueous two phase system; anaerobic digestion; 16S rDNA; alkalinity;

    Abstract : The implementation of anaerobic digestion is important in the concept of sustainable development, especially regarding the environmental benefits. Biogas is produced when organic matter is degraded by microorganisms under oxygen-free (anaerobic) conditions. READ MORE

  5. 20. Aqueous Block Copolymer Systems. Self-association, Phase Behaviour and Partitioning of Biomolecules

    Author : Mårten Svensson; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; block copolymer self-association partitioning phase behaviour; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : The phase and partitioning behaviour of aqueous block copolymer systems has been studied. The block copolymers used in this work were built up of three blocks. The middle block was poly(propylene oxide) (PPO) and hydrophobic. The two outer blocks constisted of poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) chains and less hydrophobic. READ MORE
