  1. 1. Asymmetric Hydrogenations : Syntheses of Ligands and Expansion of Substrate Scope

    Author : Pradeep Cheruku; Pher Andesson; Jay Siegel; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Catalysis; Asymmetric; Hydrogenations; Reductions; Olefins; Imines; Enol phosphinates; Transition metal; Complexes; Iridium; Enamines; Ruthenium; Ligands; Trifluoromethyl; Diphenylvinylphosphine oxides; Vinyl phosphonates; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Abstract : Asymmetric hydrogenation has emerged as a versatile methodology to obtain a wide range of chiral precursors. This thesis focused on the synthesis of new chiral ligands and the expansion of the substrate scope of asymmetric hydrogenations. READ MORE

  2. 2. Ruthenium-Catalyzed Asymmetric Transfer Hydrogenation

    Author : Tove Slagbrand; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; allylic alcohols; asymmetric catalysis; isomerization; reduction; ruthenium;

    Abstract : This thesis covers the development of two new methods for the asymmetric reduction of ketones and ketone intermediates. The protocols developed are based on the use of a ruthenium pseudo-dipeptide catalyst that previously has been shown to be efficient and selective in the asymmetric reduction of carbonyl compounds. 3. 3. Asymmetric transfer hydrogenation of ketones : Catalyst development and mechanistic investigation

    Author : Katrin Ahlford; Hans Adolfsson; Martin Wills; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Asymmetric catalysis; reduction; amino acid; rhodium; mechanistic investigation; kinetic study; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : The development of ligands derived from natural amino acids for asymmetric transfer hydrogenation (ATH) of prochiral ketones is described herein. In the first part, reductions performed in alcoholic media are examined, where it is found that amino acid-derived hydroxamic acids and thioamides, respectively, are simple and versatile ligands that in combination with [RhCp*Cl2]2 efficiently catalyze this particular transformation. 4. 4. Towards Rational Design of Asymmetric Catalyst for Organometallic and Organocatalytic Reactions

    Author : Antti Hartikka; Per Arvidsson; Albrecht Berkessel; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Organocatalysis; Transition Metal Complex; Asymmetric; Aldol Reaction; Cyclopropanation; Diels-Alder; Reduction; Conjugate Addition; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with synthetically modified chiral molecules and their application in asymmetric catalysis. The first part of the thesis describes the use of commercially available chiral diamine ligands in the iridium catalyzed transfer hydrogenation of aromatic ketones. READ MORE
