1. Re-establishment of connectivity for fish populations in regulated rivers
Abstract : The hydropower industry has altered connectivity in many rivers during the last century. Many fish species depend on both an intact longitudinal connectivity to be able to migrate between spawning, feeding and winter habitats, and vertical connectivity for development and survival of incubating embryos and larvae in the gravel. 2. Attraction channel as entrance to fishways
Abstract : The utilization of rivers for hydropower production leads to problems for fish migration. Migratory fish that swim upstream for reproduction need to overcome obstructions to reach their spawning grounds. On their way upstream they follow high water velocities. READ MORE

3. Economic Implications of Corporate Social Responsibility and Responsible Investments
Abstract : Paper 1 (with Catalin Starica): This study conducts an in-depth analysis of the association between a unique ten-dimensional set of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) scores and firm profitability, as measured by Return on Assets (ROA). We find that non-linear (semi or non-parametric) regression methods bring important improvements in explaining profitability relative to a classical linear approach. READ MORE

4. Flow design for migrating fish
Abstract : The utilization of rivers for hydropower production leads to problems for migrating fish, such as Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) and sea trout (Salmo trutta). Both salmon and trout reproduce in fresh water, but spend their adult years at sea. To overcome man-made obstructions to and from the spawning grounds the fish needs help. READ MORE

5. Efficient Quantum Memories Based on Spectral Engineering of Rare-Earth-Ion-Doped Solids
Abstract : The main aim of the present thesis is to demonstrate the efficient quantum memories for light employing coherent processes in rare-earth-ion-doped crystals. Rare-earth (RE) ions between lanthanum, with atomic number 57, and lutetium, with atomic number 71, have a partly filled 4f shell, which is spatially inside the full shells 5s, 5p, and 6s. READ MORE
