    Author : Emil Fridolfsson; Samuel Hylander; Michael T. Brett; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; phytoplankton; zooplankton; thiamin; transfer; food web dynamics; micronutrient; vitamin; Baltic Sea; community composition; M74; salmon; B1; växtplankton; djurplankton; tiamin; överföring; födoväv; mikronäringsämne; vitamin; Östersjön; B1; lax; Ecology; Ekologi;

    Abstract : Thiamin (vitamin B1) is required for several life-sustaining processes in most organisms and cells, e.g. in the conversion of food to energy. It also serves as an antioxidant and is important for proper nerve signaling. READ MORE

  2. 2. Three-dimensional T1 quantification techniques for assessment of cartilage quality using dGEMRIC

  4. 4. Dynamics of astaxanthin, tocopherol (Vitamin E) and thiamine (Vitamin B1) in the Baltic Sea ecosystem : Bottom-up effects in an aquatic food web

    Author : Norbert Häubner; Pauli Snoeijs; Jon Ågren; Rhena Schumann; Markku Viitasalo; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Baltic Sea; carotenoids; astaxanthin; tocopherols; Vitamin E; thiamine; Vitamin B1; pelagic food web; eutrophication; M74; phytoplankton; zooplankton; sprat; Sprattus sprattus balticus; herring; Clupea harengus; salmon; Salmo salar; cod; Gadus morhua; High Performance Liquid Chromatography HPLC ; electrochemical detection ECD ;

    Abstract : The thesis combines laboratory experiments and field expeditions to study production, transfer and consumption of non-enzymatic antioxidants and thiamine in an aquatic food web. In particular, I (1) documented spatial and seasonal variation of tocopherols and carotenoids in the Baltic Sea pelagic food web, and (2) examined the effects of abiotic and biotic factors on tocopherol, carotenoid and thiamine concentrations in phytoplankton, zooplankton and fish. 5. 5. On cellular immunology in chronic idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP)

    Author : Per-Ola Andersson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : chronic ITP; T-cells; TGF-b1; Th3; cell-mediated cytotoxicity; KIR; DNA microarray;

    Abstract : Chronic idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) is an acquired autoimmune disease characterized by a low platelet count and mucocutaneous bleedings. Chronic ITP is considered to be mediated by autoantibodies leading to premature destruction of platelets in the reticuloendothelial system. READ MORE
