  1. 1. World oil supply in the 21st century : A bottom-up perspective

    Author : Henrik Wachtmeister; Mikael Höök; Jamie Speirs; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; oil supply; oil production; oil prices; bottom-up; projections; conventional oil; tight oil; shale oil; Natural Resources and Sustainable Development; Naturresurser och hållbar utveckling;

    Abstract : Oil-fuelled progress was a defining feature of the 20th century, and still today, oil remains the world’s largest primary energy source. Yet, oil is a non-renewable and carbon-intensive resource, either depletion or resulting carbon emissions will ultimately limit its use. READ MORE

  2. 2. Modelling air―water flows in bottom outlets of dams

    Author : Ting Liu; James Yang; Anders Wörman; Michael Pfister; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Air pocket; Air entrainment; Bottom outlet; Critical velocity; Critical submergence; CFD; Experiment; Vortex; PIV; Two-phase air―water flow; Mark- och vattenteknik; Land and Water Resources Engineering; Civil and Architectural Engineering; Byggvetenskap;

    Abstract : If air is entrained in a bottom outlet of a dam in an uncontrolled way, the resulting air pockets may cause problems such as blowback, blowout and loss of discharge capacity. In order to provide guidance for bottom outlet design and operation, this study examines how governing parameters affect air entrainment, air-pocket transport and de-aeration and the surrounding flow structure in pipe flows. 3. 3. Unsaturated Phase Environmental Processes in MSWI Bottom Ash

    Author : Aamir Ilyas; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Bottom Ash; Frequency Domain; Hydrogen Recovery; Leaching; Microbial Respiration; Eco-toxicity; Solid Waste;

    Abstract : Every year, Sweden produces 1.5 million tons of incineration residues from waste to energy plants. Among these residues bottom ash(BA) due to its large volume and good geotechnical quality can be reused as an alternative construction material. READ MORE

  4. 4. World oil supply and unconventional resources : Bottom-up perspectives on tight oil production

    Author : Henrik Wachtmeister; Mikael Höök; Roger Bentley; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; oil supply; oil production; unconventional resources; tight oil; shale oil; bottom-up model; projections; Natural Resources and Sustainable Development; Naturresurser och hållbar utveckling;

    Abstract : Oil is the world’s largest primary energy source. It dominates the transportation sector which underpins the world economy. Yet, oil is a nonrenewable resource, destined not to last forever. In the mid-2000s global conventional oil production stagnated, leading to rising oil prices and fears of permanent oil scarcity.
