1. Nurse staffing, care left undone and patient mortality in acute hospitals
Abstract : Failures in the care provided in hospitals may threaten patient safety. Research since the 1980s has established an association between lower registered nurse (RN) staffing levels and higher risk of death in acute hospitals. When RNs have more patients to care for, there is also a greater chance that some nursing care is missed. READ MORE

2. Sustainable Manufacturing through Material Efficiency Management
Abstract : Material efficiency contributes to reduced industrial waste volumes, reduced extraction and consumption of virgin raw materials, increased waste segregation, decreased energy demand, and reduced carbon emissions, thereby generally mitigating the environmental impact of the manufacturing industry. However, the area of material efficiency in manufacturing is under-researched, and related knowledge is limited particularly at individual manufacturing sites and lower levels. READ MORE

5. Keep it rolling : Straight-line orientation in South African ball-rolling dung beetles
Abstract : Representing a substantial range and variety in morphological and ecological niche, found on all continents of the globe (except for the Antarctic), the ball-rolling dung beetles provide an excellent model in which to study the heading direction network and the factors by which it is influenced. As soon as a ball-rolling dung beetle has located a fresh dung pile to feed on, it immediately starts shaping a piece of dung into a ball, rolling it away from the dung pat in as straight of a trajectory as the terrain allows.
