1. Swash Processes and Dune Erosion: Emphasis on Vessel-Generated Waves
Abstract : In navigable waterways, owing to the relatively short fetches for wind wave generation, the free waves generated by moving vessels often produce the dominant wave action with respect to erosion of the shore. In response to the fairly recent introduction of high-speed ferries, combined with a planned expansion within the passenger- and car-carrying ship market, the need to model and predict coastline changes as a result of exposure to vessel-generated waves has become a topic of increased research. 2. A numerical model to simulate short-term beach and dune evolution
Abstract : Sediment transport in the cross-shore (CS) and associated changes in the beach profile, especially during storms, have been topics of widespread concern. Since storms are often accompanied by high water levels and large waves, large quantities of sand from the beach and the dune are typically transported offshore, leading to severe beach and dune erosion, which threatens the integrity of buildings and infrastructure near the coast. 3. Vane applications and vane induced flow
Abstract : Vanes are essentially small aspect ratio foils used forguiding sediment, by means of affecting the flow features. Theyare usually placed on the river bed and aligned with an angleof attack to the approach flow, thereby inducing a secondaryflow component that is used for guiding sediment in a desireddirection. 4. Hydrographic and morphologic processes at Falsterbo peninsula - Present conditions and future scenarios
Abstract : Falsterbo Peninsula in the south-west corner of Sweden is low-lying and built up of unconsolidated sand. Vulnerability to high water levels and wave action is of concern for the 10,000 residents of the peninsula, especially in consideration of global warming as enhanced inundation and coastal erosion problems may ensue. 5. The Beach Beneath the Road : Sustainable coastal development beyond governance and economics
Abstract : That Florida is in the midst of an ecological crisis is a perspective increasingly shared by academy, government, private industry and civil society. Ideas about the causes of the state’s environmental problems and how best to address them, however, are not so well aligned. READ MORE
