  1. 1. Robust Formulations for Beam-to-Beam Contact

    Author : Hamid Reza Motamedian; Artem Kulachenko; Anders Klarbring; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Structures; Finite Element Methods; Hållfasthetslära; Solid Mechanics;

    Abstract : Contact between beam elements is a specific category of contact problems which was introduced by Wriggers and Zavarise in 1997 for normal contact and later extended by Zavarise and Wriggers to include tangential and frictional contact. In these works, beam elements are assumed to have rigid circular cross-sections and each pair of elements cannot have more than one contact point. READ MORE

  2. 2. Applications of Ion Beam Methods in Silicide/Si and Silicide/GaAs Nanometre Structures

    Author : Yanwen Zhang; Kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Phase formation; Nanometre structures; silicide; detection efficiency; Ion Beam Analysis; Ion Beam Synthesis; Time-of-Flight Energy Elastic Recoil Detection ToF-E ERD ; implantation; Fysicumarkivet A:1998:Zhang; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; Detla E-E ERD;

    Abstract : Ion beam methods are used to analyse material (Ion Beam Analysis, IBA) and to modify the target (Ion Beam Modification of Materials, IBMM). In this thesis, ion beams have been used in various IBA techniques to investigate the surface nanometre structures, and also in an ion beam synthesis (IBS) technique to form thin films and to modify material properties. 3. 3. Corotational formulation for nonlinear analysis of flexible beam structures

    Author : Thanh Nam Le; Jean-Marc Battini; Jari Mäkinen; KTH; []
    Keywords : Corotational method; nonlinear dynamic analysis; beam element; large displacements; finite rotations; time stepping method; cubic interpolations;

    Abstract : Flexible beam structures are popular in civil and mechanical engineering. Many of these structures undergo large displacements and finite rotations, but with small deformations. Their dynamic behaviors are usually investigated using finite beam elements. A well known method to derive such beam elements is the corotational approach. READ MORE

  4. 4. Nonlinear dynamics of flexible structures using corotational beam elements

    Author : Thanh-Nam Le; Jean-Marc Battini; Reijo Kouhia; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; corotational method; nonlinear dynamics; large displacements; finite rotations; time stepping method; thin-walled cross-section; beam element;

    Abstract : The purpose of this thesis is to develop corotational beam elements for the nonlinear dynamic analyse of flexible beam structures. Whereas corotational beam elements in statics are well documented, the derivation of a corotational dynamic formulation is still an issue. READ MORE

  5. 5. Beam Diagnostics and Dynamics in Nonlinear Fields

    Author : Jim Ögren; Roger Ruber; Volker Ziemann; Klaus Leifer; Stephen Peggs; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Beam diagnostics; Nonlinear beam dynamics; Accelerator physics;

    Abstract : Particle accelerators are indispensable tools for probing matter at the smallest scales and the improvements of such tools depend on the progress and understanding of accelerator physics. The Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) is a proposed, linear electron–positron collider on the TeV-scale, based at CERN. READ MORE
