  1. 1. Bone tissue regeneration indento-alveolar surgery : clinical and experimental studies on biomaterials and bone graft substitutes

    Author : Annika Sahlin-Platt; Maria Ransjö; Christer Dahlin; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biomaterials; bone graft substitutes; compomer; root end filling; Bio-Oss; Bioactive glass 45S5; Algipore; SEM EDAX; ICP-OES; Cryo-XPS;

    Abstract : Pathological processes in the alveolar and facial bones can lead to bone loss that may not heal with complete regeneration. Biomaterials can be used to facilitate the healing process and/or as a bone substitute, but the mechanisms are not fully understood. READ MORE

  2. 2. Ridge alterations following tooth extraction and implant placement

    Author : Giuseppe Cardaropoli; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The purpose of the present series of investigations was to study the healing following tooth extraction and implant placement. In an animal model, the healing sequence of tooth extraction sites (Study I), the influence of the periodontal ligament (PDL) on the healing of extraction sockets and the effect of various biomaterial on the healing of bone defects (Study II), and the healing of different bone block grafts placed on the surface of a narrow ridge (Study III) were investigated. 3. 3. Intra-oral soft tissue expansion and volume stability of onlay bone grafts

    Author : Peter Abrahamsson; Malmö högskola; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Implantat är idag en väl etablerad behandlingsform. I många fallfinns dock inte tillräckligt med käkben för att på ett optimalt sättkunna rekonstruera patientens bett såväl ur funktionell som estetisksynpunkt. I dessa fall används olika tekniker för att tillförakäkben. READ MORE

  4. 4. Biological interface of bone graft substitute materials : experimental studies on interactions between biomaterials and bone cells

    Author : Zivko Mladenovic; Maria Ransjö; Joost D de Brujin; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Bone graft substitute materials are becoming more common as alternative therapy strategies when bone defects in patients need to be treated. The interaction between bone cells and biomaterials occur at the surface of the materials. A great deal is known about the importance of surface topography and physic-chemical properties of biomaterials. READ MORE
