21. Structural studies on aerobic and anaerobic respiratory complexes
Abstract : All respiratory pathways, whether aerobic or anaerobic, are based on formation of an electrochemical proton gradient called proton motive force (pmf) that drives ATP formation. Membrane-bound respiratory complexes translocate protons across the membrane from a region of low [H+] and negative electrical potential to a region of high [H+] and positive electrical potential. 22. True Monoliths as Separation Media : Homogeneous Gels for Electrophoresis and Electrochromatography in the Capillary and Microchip Modes
Abstract : The thesis focuses on the development of new homogeneous gels for the separation of drug enantiomers, peptides, DNA and virus by electrophoresis and electrochromatography in capillaries and microchips. This type of separation media offers high resolution and small zone broadening. READ MORE

23. The kinetics of cellulose enzymatic hydrolysis : Implications of the synergism between enzymes
Abstract : The hydrolysis kinetics of bacterial cellulose and its derivatives by Trichoderma reesei cellulases was studied. The cellulose surface erosion model was introduced to explain the gradual and strong retardation of the rate of enzymatic hydrolysis of cellulose. READ MORE

24. Structure and function of the presynaptically neurotoxic phospholipase A² from the Australian tiger snake - Notechis scutatus scutatus
Abstract : Notexin is a member of the phospholipase A2, (PLA2) family of proteins. Despitethe fact they are homologous proteins with similar sequence and almost identicalstructures, they show an impressing diversity of functions. READ MORE

25. New approaches in biomembrane chromatomatography and microchromatographic techniques
Abstract : Development of methods for rendering chromatography more applicable to studies in lifesciences remains an area of active research. In the present work, new methods inbiomembrane chromatography and microchromatographic techniques have been developedand applied successfully to quantitative analysis of biological interactions and separations ofproteins on a micro-scale.
