    Abstract : New strategies are needed to counter the growing problem of bacterial resistance to antibiotics. One such strategy is to design compounds that target bacterial virulence, which could work separately or in concert with conventional bacteriostatic or bactericidal antibiotics. READ MORE

  2. 2. Studies on nucleic acids chemistry

    Author : Nitin Puri; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bioorganic chemistry; Bioorganisk kemi; Bioorganic chemistry; Bioorganisk kemi; bioorganisk kemi; Biorganic Chemistry;

    Abstract : This thesis is divided into three parts: Part 1: Synthesis and conformational analysis of cyclic RNAs, and comparison with lariat RNAs modelling the lariat formed during processing of Group II and Nuclear pre-mRNA. Synthesis of a hexameric lariat RNA model with a tetranucleotidyl "2' → 5' loop" and a dinucleotidyl "3'-tail" has been accomplished. READ MORE

  3. 3. Some Aspects of Nucleic Acids Chemistry

    Author : Edouard Zamaratski; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bioorganic chemistry; Bioorganisk kemi; Bioorganic chemistry; Bioorganisk kemi; bioorganisk kemi; Biorganic Chemistry;

    Abstract : This thesis is divided into two parts based on a total of 8 papers: Part 1: Synthesis, physicochemical and biochemical studies of chemically modified oligonucleotides and their duplexes and triplexes. Potency of the chromophore conjugated DNA oligonucleotides as antigene and antisense gene repressors was evaluated. READ MORE

  4. 4. Modified Glycopeptides Targeting Rheumatoid Arthritis : Exploring molecular interactions in class II MHC/glycopeptide/T-cell receptor complexes

    Author : Ida E. Andersson; Jan Kihlberg; Anna Linusson Jonsson; Craig Crews; Umeå universitet; []

    Abstract : Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune inflammatory disease that leads to degradation of cartilage and bone mainly in peripheral joints. In collagen-induced arthritis (CIA), a mouse model for RA, activation of autoimmune CD4+ T cells depends on a molecular recognition system where T-cell receptors (TCRs) recognize a complex between the class II MHC Aq protein and CII259-273, a glycopeptide epitope from type II collagen (CII).
