  1. 11. Engineering the Secretory Pathway for Recombinant Protein Secretion in Saccharomyces cerevisiae

    Author : Jichen Bao; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; endoplasmic reticulum; oxidative stress; GLO3; protein secretion; transcriptomics; drug screening; Saccharomyces cerevisiae; SEC16;

    Abstract : In the past few decades there has been an increasing demand of biopharmaceutical proteins in the market. Several types of cell factories are applied to produce different pharmaceutical proteins. READ MORE

  2. 12. Metabolic Engineering of Recombinant Protein Production by Saccharomyces cerevisiae

    Author : Zihe Liu; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; recombinant protein production; genome sequencing; DNA microarray; insulin precursor; growth rate; UV mutation; yeast; anaerobic electron acceptor; secretory pathway; unfolded protein response; metabolic engineering; systems biology; α-amylase;

    Abstract : The yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae is a widely used cell factory for the production of fuels, chemicals, and it also provides a platform for the production of many heterologous proteins of medical or industrial interest. In this thesis, random and rational approaches, such as vector design, host engineering, fermentation analysis, UV Mutation, coupled with high-throughput systems biology techniques (including whole genomic sequencing, microarray analysis and flux analysis) and integrated analysis (Reporter feature technique), were employed to engineer cellular properties more effectively and purposefully to construct cell factories for protein production. 3. 13. How do biogas solutions influence the sustainability of bio-based industrial systems?

    Author : Linda Hagman; Mats Eklund; Niclas Svensson; Thomas Prade; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Biogas; biorefinery; biomass; circular bioeconomy; sustainability; feasibility; stakeholders; assessments; methods;

    Abstract : Biomass is a valuable and limited resource that should be used efficiently. The potential of replacing fossil-based products with bio-based ones produced in biobased industrial systems is huge. One important aim of increasing the share of biobased products is to improve the sustainability of systems for production and consumption. READ MORE

  4. 14. Design of solid dosage forms for mucosal vaccination - Investigations on the influence of excipients on product performance

    Author : Annika Borde; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; hydrophilic matrix tablets; osmotic pressure; protein release; freeze-drying; Vibrio cholerae; mucoadhesion; Bradford Assay; sublingual vaccine tablet; mucosal vaccination;

    Abstract : Most vaccines today are liquid formulations for parental administration. However, there are several drawbacks connected to these vaccines. Since injectable vaccines only induce systemic antibody responses, they are not effective against the various pathogens that affect mucosal surfaces with poor permeability for serum-derived antibodies, e.g. READ MORE

  5. 15. Multiplexed antibody-based protein profiling in the pursuit of CSF biomarkers for neurodegenerative diseases

    Author : Sofia Bergström; Peter Nilsson; Anna Månberg; Markus Otto; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Protein profiling; suspension bead array; cerebrospinal fluid; biomarker discovery; proteomics; Bioteknologi; Biotechnology;

    Abstract : There is a desire for a transition from generic treatments designed for the average patient, towards more individual-based precision medicine. An increased knowledge about disease pathophysiology on a molecular level would be beneficial for this transition. READ MORE
