  1. 1. Polychlorinated biphenyls VII : studies on the synthesis of ¹⁴C-labelled and unlabelled chlorobiphenyls : identification of chlorobiphenyls present in technical PCB mixtures and in human adipose tissue

    Author : Göran Sundström; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : .... READ MORE

  2. 2. Polychlorinated biphenyls and their metabolites in human blood : Method development, identification and quantification

    Author : Lotta Hofvander; Åke Bergman; Bo Jönsson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PCB; polychlorinated biphenyls; metabolites; human blood; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi;

    Abstract : PCBs are well known environmental pollutants. They are also precursors to metabolites, as the hydroxy-PCBs and the methylsulfonyl-PCBs. This thesis presents a validated methodology for analysis of PCB metabolites and a structural identification of 38 hydroxy-PCBs in human blood. READ MORE

  3. 3. Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) in a river ecosystem

    Author : Gudrun Bremle; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Hydrobiology; dredging; landfill; cleanup; remedial action; air; fish; sediment; Persistent organic pollutants; freshwater; marine biology; aquatic ecology; limnology; Marinbiologi; limnologi; akvatisk ekologi;

    Abstract : Atmospheric deposition is one source of persistent pollutants such as polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) in aquatic environments. Other point sources can also contribute to the PCB loadings in the water. READ MORE

  5. 5. Liver tumour promoting effects by polychlorinated biphenyls

    Author : Marie Haag Grönlund; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : tumour promotion; altered hepatic foci; rat liver; PCB; potency; TEF; interactions; antagonism; biologically based cancer growth models; TCDD;

    Abstract : PCBs cause a number of toxic effects and are present in a variety of biological samples including fish, meat and diary products. Cancer is a serious toxic effect by PCBs that has been observed in animal experiments but the knowledge about PCB induced carcinogenicity is still scarce. READ MORE
