  1. 1. Effects of anti-neoplastic therapy on tooth and bone formation : clinical and experimental studies

    Author : Margareta Näsman; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : anti-neoplastic therapy; bone; clinical; experimental; histology; morphometry; radiographs; scanning electeleazarron microscopy; tooth;

    Abstract : Long-term dental sequelae after treatment of childhood malignancies were studied in patients treated with chemotherapy and with bone marrow transplantation (BMT) before 12 years of age. Compared to healthy controls, there was no statistically significant difference between the chronological and dental age in children treated with chemotherapy. READ MORE

  2. 2. Radiation dose and related risk in interventional cardiology

    Author : Angeliki Karambatsakidou; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Cardiac catheterization procedures are classified as high radiation dose procedures, European Directive 2013/59/Euratom, and may result in skin injuries (deterministic effects) and/or increased cancer risk (stochastic effects). The radiation-induced effects can be expressed differently depending on whether the patient is a child or an adult. READ MORE

  3. 3. Synergistic effects of mesenchymal stromal cells and immunotherapy in experimental brain tumors

    Author : Salina Gunnarsson; Neurokirurgi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; mesenchymal stromal cells; rat; IFNγ; IL-7; immunotherapy; glioma;

    Abstract : Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most common and aggressive form of primary brain tumor. In spite of surgical resection, combined radiation therapy and chemotherapy, the mean survival is less than 15 months following diagnosis. READ MORE

  4. 4. Realistic tissue dosimetry models using Monte Carlo simulations. Applications for radionuclide therapies

    Author : Erik Larsson; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; internal dosimetry; radionuclide therapy; Monte Carlo; small scale dosimetry;

    Abstract : Radionuclide therapy (RNT) is a generic term for treatment modalities that use a radionuclide labeled to a target-specific molecule. This so-called radiopharmaceutical accumulates in the target, where the ionizing radiation damages the cells. At sufficient levels of radiation, the cells cannot repair themselves. READ MORE

  5. 5. Internal dosimetry. Macroscopic, small-scale and microscopic perspectives

    Author : Cecilia Hindorf; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; radiobiologi; Nukleärmedicin; radiobiology; Nuclear medicine; B-cell lymphoma; Radioimmunotherapy; Radionuclide therapy; Internal dosimetry; Radiopharmaceutical technology; Radiofarmaceutisk teknik;

    Abstract : Internal dosimetry deals with the assessment of absorbed dose for radionuclides distributed inside the body. The absorbed dose is in its turn used for correlation with the biological effect caused by the irradiation. READ MORE
