  1. 1. Transitivity in discourse : A comparison of Greek, Polish and Swedish

    Author : Ann Lindvall; Allmän språkvetenskap; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; agentivity; affectedness; aspect; boundedness; cognitive semantics; definiteness; discourse semantics; dynamism; functionalism; givenness; Greek; language typology; lexical semantics; modality; Modern Greek; Polish; transitivity; Swedish; translation; Linguistics; Lingvistik;

    Abstract : This work assumes that various linguistic forms in different languages are related to common cognitive functions and semantic properties. A cognitive function - presumably universal - is information transmission. READ MORE

  2. 2. Keep V-ing : Aspectuality and event structure

    Abstract : The principal aim of this thesis is to provide a comprehensive account of the meaning of keep V-ing constructions, see (1a) and (1b).(1) a. Mary kept winning (again and again).(1) b. READ MORE

  3. 3. Boundedness of some linear operators in various function spaces

    Author : Evgeniya Burtseva; Lech Maligranda; Leszek Skrzypczak; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Applied Mathematics; Tillämpad matematik;

    Abstract : This PhD thesis is devoted to boundedness of some classical linear operators in various function spaces. We prove boundedness of weighted Hardy type operators and the weighted Riesz potential in Morrey—Orlicz spaces. Furthermore, we consider central Morrey—Orlicz spaces and prove boundedness of the Riesz potential in these spaces. READ MORE

  4. 4. Sobolev-Type Spaces : Properties of Newtonian Functions Based on Quasi-Banach Function Lattices in Metric Spaces

    Author : Lukáš Malý; Anders Björn; Jana Björn; Tomas Sjödin; Andrea Cianchi; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Newtonian space; Sobolev-type space; metric measure space; upper gradient; Sobolev capacity; Banach function lattice; quasi-normed space; rearrangement-invariant space; maximal operator; Lipschitz function; regularization; weak boundedness; density of Lipschitz functions; quasi-continuity; continuity; doubling measure; Poincaré inequality;

    Abstract : This thesis consists of four papers and focuses on function spaces related to first-order analysis in abstract metric measure spaces. The classical (i.e., Sobolev) theory in Euclidean spaces makes use of summability of distributional gradients, whose definition depends on the linear structure of Rn. READ MORE

  5. 5. Stability and boundedness results for variable-step variable-formula methods

    Author : Jørgen Sand; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : This work constitutes the author's Doctoral thesis, which includes an introduction to and a summary of the following two TRITA-NA-reports: 8112 and 8218.In many practical applications one is interested in step-wise simulation of the behaviour of a dynamic system described by ordinary differential equations.
