  1. 1. Plate buckling resistance : patch loading of longitudinally stiffened webs and local buckling

    Author : Mattias Clarin; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Steel Structures; Stålbyggnad;

    Abstract : Incremental launching of steel bridges is a demanding undertaking, on the erection site as well as on the designers desk. Not seldom, the structure itself is during the launching subjected to high concentrated forces on the lower flange when passing over the launching shoe or a intermediate support (e.g. column). 2. 2. Load-Carrying Capacity of Steel Girders and Panels with Thin-Walled Trapezoidally Corrugated Webs

    Author : Ruoshan Luo; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; steel; finite element; thin-walled structures; girder; post-buckling; panel; trapezoidal corrugation; load-carrying capacity; optimal design; plasticity; spline finite strip; buckling; large deflection;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns the load-carrying capacity of steel girders and panels with thin-walled trapezoidally corrugated webs. Computer-based numerical methods are used as a tool and emphasis is placed on various parametric studies, covering geometric parameters, initial imperfections, material strain-hardening models, loading types and loading positions, and so forth. 3. 3. Weakening of Crack-tip Singularity due to Buckling of Thin Bodies under Tension

    Author : Li Chong; Hållfasthetslära; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Thin foils; Fracture; Buckling;

    Abstract : When thin sheets containing a crack is subjected to tensile loading in the direction perpendicular to the crack surface out of plane displacement will occur in areas surrounding the crack. By this the stress state in the vicinity of the crack tip is changed and leads to a weaker crack tip singularity than the r-1/2 by linear elastic fracture mechanics. READ MORE

  4. 4. Between square and circle : A study on the behaviour of polygonal steel profiles under compression

    Author : Panagiotis Manoleas; Ove Lagerqvist; Efthymios Koltsakis; Leroy Gardner; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; polygonal; RCPS; plate buckling; shell buckling; towers; transmission lines; wind turbines; high strength steel; Stålbyggnad; Steel Structures;

    Abstract : The present study explores the structural properties of regular convex polygonal cross section (RCPS). Such profiles are commonly used to construct masts and towers, e.g.  transmission towers, light poles etc. READ MORE

  5. 5. On inelastic local flange buckling

    Author : Mikael Möller; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Structural Engineering; Konstruktionsteknik; Steel Structures; Stålbyggnad;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with inelastic local buckling of I-beam flanges made of steel. The main focus is on the theoretical description of the buckling process, and the influence of various parameters, e.g. the plastic modulus, yield plateau, yield stress etc. READ MORE
