  1. 1. Dissociation dynamics of highly excited molecules: Theory and Experiment

    Author : Shabnam Oghbaie; Synkrotronljusfysik; []
    Keywords : Molecular dissociation; core-electron excitation; double ionization; femtoseconds molecular dynamics; Isomerization; symmetry breaking; momentum imaging; site-selective dissociation; butadiene; cyclopropane; nuclear dynamics; Auger decay;

    Abstract : This thesis presents studies on dissociation of two model molecules: Butadiene and Cyclopropane. Tunable synchrotron radiation was used to ionize or excite the molecules in the gas phase, and the momentum correlation of the resulting fragment ions were measured using a 3D momenta coincident ion spectroscopy. 2. 2. Cob(I)alamin as a Quantitative Tool for Analysis, Metabolism and Toxicological Studies of Electrophilic Compounds : Butadiene Epoxides, Glycidamide and Sucralose

    Author : Hitesh Vijay Motwani; Margareta Törnqvist; Bernard T Golding; Johanna Haglund; Wolfgang Buckel; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi; Environmental Chemistry; miljökemi;

    Abstract : Vitamin B12 can be reduced to cob(I)alamin [Cbl(I)], which is one of the most powerful nucleophiles known and referred to as a “supernucleophile”. Cbl(I) was applied as a tool in toxicological studies of the air pollutant 1,3-butadiene (BD), the toxicant acrylamide (AA) present in many foods, and the artificial sweetener sucralose. READ MORE

  3. 3. Volatile hazardous hydrocarbons in road tunnels, cars and smoky rooms

    Author : Gunnar Barrefors; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; tobacoo smoke; urban air; benzene; road tunnels; ethene; adsorption sampling; hydrocarbons; butadiene; gas chromatography;

  4. 4. Methods for measurement of reactive metabolites as a basis for cancer risk assessment : Application to 1,3-butadiene and isoprene

    Author : Charlotta Fred; Margareta Törnqvist; Peter Farmer; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi;

    Abstract : 1,3-Butadiene is a general air pollutant associated with combustion of organic matter and is also an extensively used monomer in polymer production. The cancer risk estimation of 1,3-butadiene is encumbered with large uncertainties. READ MORE

  5. 5. Exposure to some carcinogenic compounds in air, with special reference to wood smoke

    Author : Pernilla Gustafson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : formaldehyde; acetaldehyde; 1; 3-butadiene; benzene; polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons; particulate matter; domestic wood burning; exposure assessment; personal exposure; experimental study;

    Abstract : The general population is exposed to air pollutants in both indoor and outdoor air from many different sources, including traffic, biomass burning, industries, cigarette smoking, and certain building materials. Air pollutants can cause a variety of health effects such as cancer and respiratory and cardiovascular diseases. READ MORE
