  3. 13. Mechanical properties of sound and of deteriorated softwood at different length scales : Poromicromechanical modeling and experimental investigations

    Author : Thomas K. Bader; Karin Hofstetter; Kristofer Gamstedt; Austria Vienna University of Technology; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Byggteknik; Civil engineering; Forestry and Wood Technology; Skog och träteknik;

    Abstract : Due to its natural origin and its inherent heterogeneities, mechanical properties of wood are highly anisotropic and show a broad variability, not only between different wood species, but also within a tree. Similar to other biological materials, the wood mi- crostructure is well organized and hierarchically structured from the annual rings visible to the naked eye down to the wood polymers cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin at the nanometer-scale. 4. 14. Timber/Glass Adhesive Bonds for Structural Applications

    Author : Louise Blyberg; Erik Serrano; Kent Persson; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; Byggteknik; Civil engineering;

    Abstract : Timber with its natural appearance and glass with its transparency may be appealing material for architects and users of modern buildings. Glass is a brittle material, but it is about six times stiffer than timber. Combined appropriately, the materials could form different types of composite products, e.g. READ MORE

  5. 15. Structural-acoustic analysis of wall-to-floor joints in timber-framed housing

    Author : Åsa Bolmsvik; Torbjörn Ekevid; Göran Sandberg; Växjö universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Acoustics; Akustik; Building engineering; Byggnadsteknik; Byggteknik; Civil engineering;

    Abstract : Even though a building meets the regulations with respect to impact sound, structures with wooden frames may receive complaints from the inhabitants due to structure-borne sound in the lower frequencies. In this thesis measuring methods that are more precise than the traditional measuring methods have been used to see if they could give a better knowledge about flanking transmission in the low frequencies in timber-framed structures.
