  1. 1. Ruthenium-catalyzed C-H Functionalization of (Hetero)arenes

    Author : Karthik Devaraj; Lukasz T. Pilarski; Victor A. Snieckus; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; catalysis; C-H activation; heterocycles; ruthenium; aryne precursor; silylation; gramine;

    Abstract : This thesis concerned about the Ru-catalyzed C-H functionalizations on the synthesis of 2-arylindole unit, silylation of heteroarenes and preparation of aryne precursor.In the first project, we developed the Ru-catalyzed C2-H arylation of N-(2-pyrimidyl) indoles and pyrroles with nucleophilic arylboronic acids under oxidative conditions. 2. 2. Iridium-Catalyzed C−H Activation Methods for Late-Stage Functionalization of Pharmaceuticals

    Author : Erik Weis; Belén Martín‐Matute; Jin-Quan Yu; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; amination; catalysis; C-H activation; C-H functionalization; high-throughput experimentation; iodination; iridium; isotope labelling; late-stage functionalization; methylation; Organic Chemistry; organisk kemi;

    Abstract : C-H activations have over the recent decades risen from a mere curiosity to a viable synthetic strategy. However, challenges in terms of accessible transformations, selectivity and functional group tolerance limit the widespread applicability of this approach. READ MORE

  3. 3. Palladium-catalyzed C-H functionalization of alkenes under oxidative conditions

    Author : Johanna M Larsson; Kálmán Szabó; Eszter Borbas; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi;

    Abstract : The unique properties of high oxidation state palladium have been used to develop new catalytic alkene C-H functionalization reactions. A Heck-type coupling based on the reactivity of palladium catalysts and diaryliodonium salts has been developed with broad synthetic scope and tolerance for functional groups that are ordinarily reactive in Pd0/PdII catalysis, for example, allylic acetates and aryl bromides. 4. 4. Transition metal-catalyzed allylic and vinylic functionalization : Method development and mechanistic investigations

    Author : Johanna M. Larsson; Kálmán J. Szabó; Dennis G. Hall; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; palladium; copper; catalysis; Heck reaction; C-H functionalization; allylic substitution; silylation; borylation; trifluoromethylation; fluorination; mechanistic study; transition metal; alkene; allylic silane; allylic boronate; allylic fluoride; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : The use of small molecule building blocks in, for example, pharmaceutical research and new material development, creates a need for new and improved organic synthesis methods. The use of transition metals as mediators and catalysts opens up new reaction pathways that have made the synthesis of completely new compounds possible as well as greatly improved the synthetic routes to known compounds. 5. 5. Palladium-catalyzed Allylic C-H and C-OH Functionalization. Reactions of the Obtained Allylboronic Acids

    Author : Rauful Alam; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : This thesis is focused on the studies of two major transformations. The first transformation deals with the development of palladium-catalyzed selective allylic trifluoroacetoxylation reactions based on C-H functionalization, whereas the second comprises the synthesis and isolation of allylboronic acids using diboronic acid B2(OH)4 as boron source.
