  1. 1. Automated Bottleneck Analysis of Production Systems : Increasing the applicability of simulation-based multi-objective optimization for bottleneck analysis within industry

    Author : Jacob Bernedixen; Amos H. C. Ng; Anna Syberfeldt; Kalyanmoy Deb; Leif Pehrsson; Magnus Wiktorsson; Högskolan i Skövde; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; bottleneck analysis; bottleneck identification; bottleneck improvement; multi-objective optimization; simulation; Production and Automation Engineering; Produktion och automatiseringsteknik;

    Abstract : Manufacturing companies constantly need to explore new management strategies and new methods to increase the efficiency of their production systems and retain their competitiveness. It is of paramount importance to develop new bottleneck analysis methods that can identify the factors that impede the overall performance of their productionsystems so that the optimal improvement actions can be performed. 2. 2. Wiring Components of the Respiratory Chain : Modulation of the Respiratory Chain in Yeast and Bacteria

    Author : Jacob Schäfer; Peter Brzezinski; Dennis Winge; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cytochrome c oxidase; Electron transfer; Membrane protein; Ligand; Kinetics; Mechanism; Rcf1; Cytochrome c; Respiratory supercomplex; Cryo-electron microscopy; Biochemistry; biokemi;

    Abstract : The enzyme complexes of the respiratory chain are organized in supramolecular assemblies, so-called respiratory supercomplexes. In the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae, these supercomplexes consist of two copies of complex III (bc1 complex) and one or two copies of complex IV (cytochrome c oxidase, CytcO). READ MORE

  3. 3. Isolation and characterization of genes within the region for multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 on chromosome 11q13

    Author : Jacob Lagercrantz; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia type 1 MEN1 ; Chromosome 11q13; Phospholipase C Beta 3 gene PLCB3 ; Phospholipase C Beta 3 Neighbouring Gene PNG ; Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor VEGF ; VEGF Related Factor gene VRF .;

    Abstract : This thesis summarizes the investigations of three genes isolated from the locus for multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 (MEN1) within the chromosomal region 11q13. As a common strategy for all three genes, the cDNA was sequenced, the genomic structure characterized, and the expression pattern analyzed by Northern blotting on human tissues and by in situ RNA hybridization on slides from rodent embryos. 4. 4. Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest : a study on factors associated with cardiopulmonary resuscitation, early defibrillation and survival

    Author : Jacob Hollenberg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest; sudden cardiac death; ventricular fibrillation; cardiopulmonary resuscitation CPR ; automated external defibrillators; return of spontaneous circulation; fire department;

    Abstract : Cardiac disease is the most common cause of mortality in the Western World and the majority of these cardiac deaths is due to out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA). In Sweden, an estimated 5,000-10,000 people suffer an OHCA annually. READ MORE

  5. 5. MHC polymorphism in a songbird : Fitness, mate choice, and sexual conflict

    Author : Jacob Roved; MEMEG; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Major histocompatibility complex; MHC diversity; MHC haplotypes; sexually antagonistic selection; costs of immune responses; adaptive immunity; great reed warbler; songbird;

    Abstract : Sex differences in immune responses have been observed across a wide range of animal species, with the generaltendency that males have weaker immune responses than females. These differences are at least partly caused by immune-regulating effects of sex hormones, and have been associated with an increased prevalence of autoimmune disorders in females and with a general tendency for males to be parasitized more often than females.
