1. New Reactions with Allyl- and Allenylboron Reagents : Transition-Metal-Catalyzed and Transition-Metal-Free Carbon-Carbon Bond Formation Processes
Abstract : Organoboron compounds have been widely used in carbon-carbon bond formation reactions in organic synthesis and catalysis. This thesis is focused on cross-coupling reactions of allyl-, allenylboronic acids and their ester derivatives via transition metal catalysis or transition-metal-free processes. READ MORE

2. DNA Sequence Variants in Human Autoimmune Diseases
Abstract : Human autoimmune diseases are hallmarked by inappropriate loss-of-tolerance and self-attacking response of the immune system. Studies included in this thesis are focusing on the implication and functional impact of genetic factors in three autoimmune diseases rheumatoid arthritis (RA), asthma, and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). 3. Regulation of Intracellular Calcium in Brown Adipocytes
Abstract : Intracellular Ca2+ is considered a primary regulator of cell function. In the present study, the control and the effects of intracellular Ca2+ in brown adipocytes have been investigated. Cytosolic Ca2+ levels ([Ca2+]i) are the resultant of the activity of Ca2+ transport systems. READ MORE

4. Toward Predictive Maintenance in a Cloud Manufacturing Environment : A population-wide approach
Abstract : The research presented in this thesis is focused on improving industrial maintenance by using better decision support that is based on a wider range of input information. The core objective is to research how to integrate information from a population of similar monitored objects. READ MORE

5. Targeted disruption and subcellular distribution of phospholipase C 3
Abstract : Phosphatidylinositol specific phospholipase C (PLC) isoforms are key enzymes in the signal transduction pathway that control many cellular processes including cell proliferation, hormone secretion and egg fertilization. The PLCβ3 gene, assigned to the multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 (MEN1) locus, has been implicated in endocrine tumorigenesis due to the low expression in several endocrine tumors. READ MORE
