  1. 1. Characterisation of eosinophil activity markers : relation to allergic inflammation and apoptosis

    Author : Anna Nopp; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : An allergic inflammation is characterised by many different factors, among which eosinophils and the release of their granule content e.g. eosinophilic cationic protein (ECP) constitute main features. READ MORE

  2. 2. Organic dust from pig environment induces activation of human T cells

    Author : Charlotte Müller-Suur; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Organic dust; T cells; NK cells; cytokines; cellular activation;

    Abstract : Farmers suffer more frequently from inflammatory airway disorders than the population in general and a ongoing airway inflammation has been shown also in symptom-free healthy farmers. Exposure in a swine confinement building causes an intense airway inflammation with recruitment of inflammatory cells, predominately neutrophils, in healthy, previously, non-exposed subjects. 3. 3. A study of immune dynamics in experimental arthritis using CRISPR and PET techniques

    Author : Yunbing Shen; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Background: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease characterized by joint inflammation associated with CD4 T cell dysfunction. The disease has no cure; thus, early diagnosis and interventions are crucial. DNMT3A is one of the most somatically mutated genes in the hematopoietic system of elderly people and RA patients. 4. 4. Composition and maintenance of skin resident T-cells in health and disease

    Author : Elena Hoffer; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Tissue-resident memory T cells (TRM) reside in healthy skin at sites of previous infections. Upon re-infection, TRM cells rapidly respond by initiating tissue inflammation and exert effector functions to eliminate pathogens. TRM cells are potent effector cells and as such, they are key players in focal inflammatory skin diseases. READ MORE

  5. 5. T-cells in COPD to help or harm? A study of T-cells in COPD patients and related aspects of T-cell function in vitro

    Author : Pernilla Glader; allergologi och palliativ medicin Lungmedicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Andningsorganen; Respiratory system; Immunologi; serologi; T-cell; inflammation; mucosal immunology; transplantation; serology; Immunology; lymphocyte; chronic obstructive pulmonary disease;

    Abstract : Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, COPD, is manifested by chronic airflow limitation due to inflammation and tissue destruction in the lungs. COPD is caused primarily by smoking and with increasing cigarette consumption in the world, the prevalence for COPD will most probably increase in the future. READ MORE
