1. Numerical modelling of highly swirling flows in a cylindrical through-flow hydrocyclone
Abstract : Three-dimensional turbulent flow in a cylindrical hydrocyclone is considered and studied by means of computational fluid dynamics using software packages CFX and Fluent. The aim has been to identify the methods that can be used for accurate simulation of the flow in three-dimensional configurations in hydrocyclones at high swirl numbers. READ MORE

2. Prediction of forced convection heat transfer to Lead-Bismuth-Eutectic
Abstract : The goal of this work is to investigate the capabilities of two different commercial codes, OpenFOAM and ANSYS CFX, to predict forced convection heat transfer in low Prandtl number fluids and investigate the sensitivity of these predictions to the type of code and to several input parameters. The goal of the work is accomplished by predicting forced convection heat transfer in two different experimental setups with the codes OpenFOAM and ANSYS CFX using three different turbulence models and varying the input parameters in an extensive sensitivity analysis. 3. The indoor thermal climate in residential buildings after energy efficiency measures in a subarctic climate
Abstract : There is ongoing work related to the energy efficiency of residential buildings in the subarctic regions in northern Sweden. The focus is often on the reduction of energy usage and the economic aspects for the property owners. With the introduction of new technology and changes to the existing building, the indoor thermal climate is affected. READ MORE

4. Carbon Nitride and Carbon Fluoride Thin Films Prepared by HiPIMS
Abstract : The present thesis focuses on carbon based thin films prepared by high power impulse magnetron sputtering (HiPIMS) and direct current magnetron sputtering (DCMS). Carbon nitride (CNx: 0 < x < 0.20) as well as carbon fluoride (CFx: 0.16 < x < 0. READ MORE

5. Nanostructured carbon-based thin films : prediction and design
Abstract : Carbon-based thin films are a vast group of materials of great technological importance. Thanks to the different bonding options for carbon, a large variety of structures (from amorphous to nanostructured) can be achieved in the process of film synthesis. READ MORE
