  1. 1. Multiscale materials design of hard coatings for improved fracture resistance and thermal stability

    Author : Phani Kumar Yalamanchili; Magnus Odén; Naureen Ghafoor; Emilio Jiménez-Piqué; Jon Molina; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Physical vapor deposited hard coatings comprised of cubic (c) transition metal (TM)-Al-N, and (TM)-Si-N are the current workhorse materials for a large number of metal cutting and wear resistant applications to fight against the extreme conditions of temperature and stress simultaneously. In spite of a high degree of sophistication in terms of material choice and microstructural design, a lower fracture resistance and limited thermal stability of the coatings remains a technological challenge in the field. 2. 2. In-situ Study of the Growth, Composition and Morphology of III-V Semiconductor Nanowires

    Author : Robin Sjökvist; NanoLund: Centre for Nanoscience; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nanowire; Semiconductor; III-V; Transmission Electron Microscopy; In-situ; Environmental TEM; Crystal growth;

    Abstract : It is widely known that nanoparticle seeded growth of III-V semiconductor nanowires often occurs via the vapor-liquid-solid mechanism. However, conventional growth of nanowires is carried out in closed systems, where mostof the details and dynamics of the growth are impossible to follow. READ MORE

  3. 3. A passage to wastewater nutrient recovery units : Microalgal-Bacterial bioreactors

    Abstract : In recent years, the microalgal–bacterial process has been considered to be a very attractive engineering solution for wastewater treatment. However, it has not been widely studied in the context of conventional wastewater treatment design under Swedish conditions. READ MORE

  4. 4. Laser-Directed Energy Deposition : Influence of Process Parameters and Heat-Treatments

    Author : Suhas Sreekanth; Joel Andersson; Shrikant V. Joshi; Högskolan Väst; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Directed Energy Deposition; Alloy 718; Process Parameters; Heat Treatments; Nb- rich Phases; Production Technology; Produktionsteknik; Manufacturing and materials engineering; Produktions- och materialteknik;

    Abstract : Laser-Directed Energy Deposition (L-DED), an Additive Manufacturing (AM) processused for the fabrication of parts in a layer-wise approach has displayed an immense potential over the last decade. The aerospace industry stands as the primary beneficiary due to the L-DED process capability to build near-net-shape components with minimal tooling and thereby producing minimum wastage because of reduced machining. 5. 5. Polymer Displacement and Supermacroporous Cryogels - Two New Tools in Chromatographic Separation of Biomolecules and Bioparticles

    Author : Pär Arvidsson; Bioteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; biopolymers; Polymerteknik; Biochemical technology; Polymer technology; IMAC; dye-affinity; affinity chromatography; viable cells; cell chromatography; non-clarified cell homogenate; cryogel; Polymer displacement; supermacroporous; Biokemisk teknik;

    Abstract : Production of protein is often accompanied with difficulties due to the large amounts of different biological material resulting from fermentation. This makes purification necessary and affinity chromatography is usually involved as being biospecific, although suffering from limitations as low recovery due to ineffective elution and inability to handle particulate materials.
