  1. 1. Diffuse Optical Spectroscopy and Imaging of Turbid Media

    Author : Can Xu; Atomfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; upconverting nanoparticles; luminescence; fluorescence; inverse problem; diffuse reflection spectroscopy; biomedical optics; photon migration; biomedical imaging; gas spectroscopy; medical diagnostics; tomography; Fysicumarkivet A:2013:Xu;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with optical spectroscopy and imaging of complex and strongly scattering turbid media. Focus is mainly placed on three topics, being i) diffuse optical spectroscopy of choroidal tumors, ii) gas spectroscopy in scattering materials using the GASMAS (gas in scattering media absorption spectroscopy) technique, and iii) luminescence diffuse optical imaging and tomography of tissues. 2. 2. Role of thioredoxin system in cell death caused by toxic compounds

    Author : Xu Zhang; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Thioredoxin systems, comprising Trx, TrxR and NADPH, are one of the major disulfide reductase systems, which is crucial in maintaining cellular redox balance in mammalian cells. TrxR is a selenoprotein with a Sec residue in its C-terminal active site. READ MORE

  3. 3. Fabrication of Functional Molecularly Imprinted Materials using Nanoparticle Building Blocks

    Author : Changgang Xu; Tillämpad biokemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Molecularly imprinted polymers; magnetic susceptibility; click chemistry; PFPA; Pickering emulsion; chemical conjugation;

    Abstract : Molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) have attracted great interest in many applications including bioseparation, chemical sensing, catalysis, drug delivery, etc. Recently, molecularly imprinted nanoparticles have become accessible due to a number of synthetic methods that have been developed. 4. 4. Advanced Organic Hole Transport Materials for Solution-Processed Photovoltaic Devices

    Author : Xu Bo; Sun Licheng; Karl Leo; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : Solution-processable photovoltaic devices (PVs), such as perovskite solar cells (PSCs) and solid-state dye-sensitized solar cells (sDSCs) show great potential to replace the conventional silicon-based solar cells for achieving low-cost and large-area solar electrical energy generation in the near future, due to their easy manufacture and high efficiency. Organic hole transport materials (HTMs) play important roles in both PSCs and sDSCs, and thereby can well facilitate the hole separation and transportation, for obtaining high performance solar cells. 5. 5. Molecular modeling and thermodynamics simulation of nucleic acids

    Author : You Xu; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Nucleic acids participate in many cellular processes. DNA is responsible for gene heredity and its structure is mainly in double helix, whereas RNA has wide functions in gene transcription and regulation so its structures are varied among species. READ MORE
