  1. 1. Choice of bed material: a critical parameter in the optimization of dual fluidized bed systems

    Author : Jelena Maric; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; GoBiGas; biomass ash; ilmenite; feldspar; biofuel; alkali salts; Dual Fluidized Bed; bed material; Chemical Looping Reforming;

    Abstract : Dual Fluidized Bed (DFB) gasification is a promising alternative method for the production of biofuels. In the DFB gasification process, the bed material, which is a crucial component of the process, has two possible roles: 1) to provide the heat needed for the gasification reaction; and 2) if it has catalytic properties, to improve the quality of the produced gas. Abstract : The utilization of the fluidized bed technology offers the possibility of thermally converting a large variety of biogenic feedstocks. The characteristics of the bed material which is used in the process play a major role regarding the overall process performance. READ MORE

  3. 3. Use of Bed Materials in Dual Fluidized Bed (DFB) Systems

    Author : Jelena Maric; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Bed material; Chemical looping reforming; Dual Fluidized Bed;

    Abstract : Dual Fluidized Bed (DFB) gasification is one alternative for the production of biofuels. In a DFB gasification process, the bed material plays a crucial role. Primary role of the bed material is to provide the heat needed for the gasification reaction. READ MORE

  4. 4. Internal Tar/CH4 Reforming in Biomass Dual Fluidised Bed Gasifiers towards Fuel Synthesis

    Author : Kristina Göransson; Per Engstrand; Wennan Zhang; Kevin J Whitty; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Allothermal gasification; Bio-automotive fuels; Biomass gasification; Catalytic bed-material; Dual fluidised bed; Ni-catalyst; Syngas cleaning; Tar removal; Tar CH4 reforming;

    Abstract : Production of high-quality syngas from biomass gasification in a dual fluidised bed gasifier (DFBG) has made a significant progress in R&D and Technology demonstration. An S&M scale bio-automotive fuel plant close to the feedstock resources is preferable as biomass feedstock is widely sparse and has relatively low density, low heating value and high moisture content. 5. 5. Solid Fuel Conversion in Dual Fluidized Bed Gasification - Modelling and Experiments

    Author : Louise Lundberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []

    Abstract : Dual fluidized bed gasification (DFBG) is the initial step towards the transformation of ligno-cellulosic materials into a raw gas, which can be further upgraded into transportation fuels, such as substitute natural gas, Fischer-Tropsch diesel, dimethyl ether, and methanol. DFBG units can be operated in two distinctly different ways, depending on whether the main product is a gas (to be refined into a transportation fuel) or heat and power (with gas as a by-product).
