16. Control of permanent-magnet synchronous machines in automotive applications
Abstract : This thesis deals with the design and analysis of control system structures for electric drives equipped with permanent-magnet synchronous machines (PMSMs) in automotive applications. Sensorless control, meaning vector control without a mechanical rotor position sensor, is considered and a speed and position estimator of phase-locked loop type is analyzed thoroughly. READ MORE

17. A Service Management Perspective on Healthcare Improvement: Integrating Social Context
Abstract : The current dissertation argues that ideas from service research should be given a more prominent position in improving healthcare that is capable of managing current and future challenges. The integration and combination of intangible resources, such as knowledge and skills, constitute the service in this thesis; thus, service is conceived as a verb. READ MORE

18. Optical manipulation and spectroscopy of single functional globin-containing cells in microfluidic systems
Abstract : Recent advances in microbiology and biomedicine require development of tools to monitor the response of single cells to environmental stimuli under controlled physiological conditions. In this thesis, I describe how this can be achieved by combining various spectroscopic techniques with optical tweezers and microfluidic systems. READ MORE

19. Investigation on Propeller-Rudder Interaction by Numerical Methods
Abstract : The axial forces in a propeller-rudder interactive system working in uniform flow are theoretically studied: In a steady linear method the propeller is represented by bound and free vortex systems, the rudder by vortex and source filaments and the rudder wake by free vortex filaments. A lifting-line analysis method predicts the propeller characteristics. READ MORE

20. 'Getting' it Together In Joint Directed Action
Abstract : This thesis is focused upon investigating how come activities in organizations are sometimes not aligned with an objective at hand, be it a project goal, safety, quality or other. When something goes wrong, where are the answers to be found? In the pursuit to examine these questions further, the aim of the thesis has been to investigate meaning making in action as this can increase an understanding of how actors may continuously align their actions, collective and/or individual, with a common goal – this process here being called Joint Directed Action (JDA).
