  1. 1. Determination of Fat-Soluble Vitamins in Foods Based on Supercritical Fluid Extraction

    Author : Charlotta Turner; Kemiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Supercritical fluid extraction; Solvent collection; Solid phase trapping; SFE; Selectivity; Retinol; Milk powder; Lipase; Food; Enzymatic hydrolysis; Alcoholysis; Candida antarctica; Tocopherol; Vitamins; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : Sample clean-up methodologies based on supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) have been developed for determination of fat-soluble vitamins in foods. This thesis focuses on method development, stressing important issues concerning sample pre-treatment, extraction conditions and collection parameters. READ MORE

  2. 2. Pressurised Fluid Extraction of Bioactive Species in Tree Barks : Analysis using Hyphenated Electrochemical Mass Spectrometric Detection

    Author : Michelle Co; Charlotta Turner; Per J.R Sjöberg; Kari Hartonen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pressurised fluid extraction; antioxidants; DPPH; water; ethanol; antioxidant activity; antioxidant capacity; electrochemial detection; mass spektrometry; Chemistry; Kemi; Analytical Chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : Analytical chemistry has developed throughout time to meet current needs. At present, the interest in biorefinery is growing, due to environmental awareness and the depletion of fossil resources. Biomass from agricultural and forestry industries has proven to be excellent raw material for different processes. READ MORE

  3. 3. Nanoparticles in capillary electrophoresis : what are the benefits?

    Author : David Malmström; Jonas Bergquist; Charlotta Turner; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Abstract : Capillary electrophoresis is a technique that separate compounds based on charge and size. During the last two decades capillary electrophoresis (CE) and mass spectrometry (MS) has gained in interest, become more robust to use and able to separate neutral analytes. READ MORE

  4. 4. Superhydrophobic coatings of wax and polymers sprayed from supercritical solutions

    Author : Louise Ovaskainen; Lars Wågberg; Charlotta Turner; Eric Beckman; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; superhydrophobic coatings; polymer; wax; supercritical carbon dioxde; RESS; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : The possibility of using supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2) as the primary solvent in a spray process for producing superhydrophobic surfaces have been examined in this work. Using scCO2 as solvent will have considerably lower environmental impact compared to an organic solvent since scCO2 is considered a green solvent as it is non-toxic, non-flammable and recyclable. 5. 5. Analysis of Acrylamide and Anthocyanins in Foods : Extraction Optimization for Challenging Analytes

    Author : Erik V. Petersson; Charlotta Turner; Johan Rosén; Rolf Danielsson; Marja-Liisa Riekkola; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Analysis; Extraction; Optimization; Acrylamide; Anthocyanins; Foods; Challenges; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi; Analytical Chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : In this thesis, the main concern has been to improve the reliability of different parts of the analytical workflow (Paper I, II, IV &V). Additionally, one of the resulting optimized methods was used in a real application (Paper III). Paper I-II concerned the extraction of acrylamide (AA) from foods. READ MORE
