1. Searches for exotic stable massive particles with the ATLAS experiment
Abstract : This thesis presents two signature-based searches for exotic long-lived particles using experimental data collected by the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN. At the LHC, proton-proton collisions take place at the world-record center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV and luminosities of up to 3×1033 cm-2s-1 . READ MORE

2. Searches for supersymmetric long-lived particles with displaced-vertex signatures and studies of the electronic noise in the Tile Calorimeter at the ATLAS experiment
Abstract : The Standard Model of particle physics is successful at describing nature on the smallest scales, but it has known flaws. These can be remedied by extended theories, such as supersymmetry. A quantum number in the supersymmetry framework is R-parity. This quantity is generally conserved, but can be violated. READ MORE

3. Studies of the electronic noise of the Tile Calorimeter and the development of a material map for searches for exotic long-lived particles which decay
Abstract : This thesis contains two major topics related to the ATLAS experiment: the calibration of electronic noise in the tile calorimeter and the development of a detailed map of the material in the inner tracker used in searches for long-lived particles. The noise in TileCal is shown to be consistent with the expectations based on heat and radiation. 4. Exploring the potentials of next-generation, wavelength-shifting, optical sensors for IceCube
Abstract : The IceCube Neutrino Observatory has sensitivity to MeV electron antineutrinos from core-collapse supernovae through an excess of the detection rate over the background. Wavelength-shifting sensors have the potential to greatly increase photon collection making it a promising candidate for improving the measurement of the supernova neutrino light curve in IceCube-Gen2.
